Are you going to use it just offroad or offroad and road ?

Stick some figures into quinn.ie and see what it throws back.

Because of your age you will be restricted, Motorcycles up to 11kW and up to 125cc.

If you want a licence for road use its going to cost you a few quid !

You would be better off checking donedeal and adverts, get an idea of price.

Do you know how much you will spend on getting a licence and gear ?

    Well , licence will be around 800 - 1000+ . ( I think so ) .
Gear is no problem at the minute , can get that sorted out .

Good, you have done a bit of research, much better than just coming looking for a bike and thinking all in you will be sorted for 1k. ;)

The licence, learners permit, theory, eye test and IBT should be no more than 500. Good to hear you have the gear takin into consideration.

Insurance will be the killer though. Throw a few figures into quinn first before you buy anything, expect to pay >2k though.

As for a bike itself, im not into scramblers, have a mate down here in Limerick who buys and sells, i can have him keep a lookout on the usual sites for you.

I've been looking at that ' type ' of stuff for good time now .
I was expecting more than 2k for everything.
If thats not a problem for you and your friend i would be pleased with that . If he finds anything , could you send me a private massage or contact with me .
