Never had any problems with firefox in the past, but this latest update (installed last night) is causing a few probs for me, since installing the new update, sites like Sky News, Blog TV, even the facebook gaming aps can just stall and not load.. even You tube's a bit laggy with it. Switched over to Google Chrome and everything works perfect , no issues at all even Internet Expoler is fine..
Anybody else experiencing these firefox issues today?

I've been on the 7 beta release for a while and haven't had any problems with it. I don't play any games on Facebook (all are blocked, personal preference) and video streaming sites work fine.

Although since about version 6 beta I've switched to SrWare Iron (based on chrome). It's fantastic.

Instead of updating have you tried a clean install? Uninstall the old version (remember to keep your profile folder backed up) download and install 7. Might fix any issues.

Try clearing the Cache files, that may be your problem

yeh I actually did a clean install earlier when I first starting having these probs.. still the same, also cleaned out Cache files too..
others on fb have just informed me they're experiencing the same and others have no issues at all.
Firefox is my favourite browser too!! :(

    Time to switch methinks! :pac:

What I mean by a clean install is that you wipe everything. When you uninstall old versions of Firefox they usually keep the profile folder (your bookmarks, extensions, etc) in case you wanted to re-install at a later date.

If you took a backup or a copy of your profile, then did a complete wipe of FF that may work.

I'd use this program to uninstall it just to be sure.

EDIT: This link might help with backing up your profile.

I noticed the other day that Flash now stores files in
    C:\WINDOWS\system32\Macromed\Flash
(in XP anyway). You might check the version of NPSWF32.dll in there, Flash is up to 10.3 now. File mod date 22/9/2011 17:59

I only use FF for ToR & iPlayer, mostly Opera for normal browsing.

At this rate of Firefox updates we will be at Firefox 65 within a few years stupid naming convention and Firefox 3.016 or whatever was better as it took ages to go from Firefox Three upwards and I think it is Mozilla trying to play catchup with Microsh!tes IE.

It was actually to catch up with Google Chromes versioning Mozilla said back then, as Chrome has new versions for small revisions Firefox didn't want to seem inferior due to lack of updates, agreed with you though its stupid!

Considering that Microsoft stuck with IE6 for 6 or 7 years I wouldn't think so. It's definitely because of Chrome. Stupid nonetheless, I can see very few differences between versions 5, 6 and 7. But I see the http:// has been dropped in the address bar... yet another Chrome imitation.

Google Chrome is out around 3 years and its on version 14!! Such stupidity Source

By the way, if you don't like the removal of the http prefix in Firefox 7 you can reinstate it via about:config. Set browser.urlbar.trimURLs to false.

Just to update, there was no improvement after reinstalling Firefox7.... so I removed Firefox completely, (again) went to old version.com and installed an old firefox version, dated 23 Aug 2011... and everything works perfectly again :) I will not be updating it again until they get their act together and fix their bugs... I have a brand new pc so I knew it was no bug my side, just their software...
I would advise people not to update their firefox for the time being after my experience.

Well it obviously has something to do with your PC since every version of FF including 7 has always worked fine on my PC. Also, yoyo and chin_grin apparently have had no problems either.

As I said previously, Others I know have had similar issues since installing the new update, it does affects some.
Even Mozillas fb page is getting some bad feedback
I don't know how it can be my pc, the previous version of firefox works perfectly, i've no probs with other browsers.. it's something in their software that is causing these problems.

I'm not suggesting it is only happening to you or that FF7 is bug-free. The point I'm making is that it is the combination of your PC and FF that is causing these problems, not FF alone. The fact that I'm having no problems with it on my PC indicates this.

Beats me why people feel the need to immediately upgrade at the first prompt from a given programme. Its the early adopters who are tearing their hair out as a rule, not the laggards.
