Panel Respray

    Hey,

I came back to find some clown had scraped my car trying to squeeze through a gap.:mad::mad:

I'm just curious as to whether anyone can give me a rough estimate on how much a respray or touch up would be, picture is below.

The damage as you can see is mainly on one panel, the bumper is scratched too but maybe that would only require a touch up.

Didn't put it in image tags to stop it taking ages to load/people moaning. :P

Thanks for any estimates/help people can provide.

Hah, we have a mutual friend because I just saw that photo on my facebook feed from a friend commenting on it *stalker*.

It depends on where you go really, but from what I can see the labour costs could be 2 hours+ between masking, sanding, painting etc. I think there'll be some filling or panel beating there further up the join, it looks like some indentation there. You could be talking a half-day labour because of it so you'd be up on €250.

If you're in Munster you could try Paint Doctor, I've heard good things about his service & the results pictures on their website seem grand to me. No experience myself with them PaintDoctor but I can recommend CarCraft in Fairview if you're in Dublin who sorted out a front wing for me earlier this year for €250 that was a good bit more damaged than your own. Shop around and get some quotes :)

Haha that's weird about facebook! Small world!

There isn't any indentation it's just the angle the photo is taken from, at least from when i inspected it there wasn't, but you have me doubting myself now! :P

    Thanks for the reply. :)

Just saw your edit, I'm in Leinster, I'll take a look at CarCraft, cheers! - Had a look, it's far side of the city so not really viable but thank you very much nonetheless!

I can't help with your estimate but just to give you an idea I had a door done recently for 90.

That sounds pretty good, what was the finish like?

If there's no damage done, then it might be just a case of a respray and that'd bring down the price a bit. I still think you'll be talking €150-€200 for it though. Mind you, are you sure that's damage and not paint transfer from the car that hit you? There's some red paint there near the edge a little bit up, and I doubt there's red primer under your main coat of blue. So that might buff off. I'm less hopeful about the white though, I'd reckon your blue was stripped back to primer level but you never know, give it a proper look and see

There's no indentation and there is no red paint on the car, I don't know what that is, just a reflection from something. I was worried because i never saw any red paint on it when i looked first.

Some of it is down to the primer but other than that there isn't any drastic damage.

    Cheers, I'd really appreciate that.

    Doh!

Try Dennings just round the corner - http://www.denningsgarage.com/ - I'd rock into them and just see what they say. Hopefully colour matching shouldnt be an issue

They did a good job on the Punto when herselfs car got bust into earlier this year

If you are around Tallaght, get a second opinion from http://r-emotors.com/ - just off the Greenhills road, in behind the old Hyundai showroom.

We used to use Dennings, but have been using R&E for the past while. Richie or Eoin are the guys to talk to.

Seems to be a reoccuring theme with a lot of our suppliers.

I like to think they spend their time perfecting their art, rather than putting fancy websites together :pac:

Had you a bad experience with Dennings, or just a better one with R&E?

sorry its not a very good picture but the sun reflecting on the car was making it a pain to get anything decent.

The scratch was about the same size as your and was on the bottom left of the door

I think we had issues with a couple of repairs from Dennings, and the service we get from R&E is better, but that might be something to do with one of the guys being a good friend of one of the staff here.
