Picked one up in Waterford earlier. Cheapest on the Internet is €195 delivered.

    Here it is:

I set one up before and it's a lovely piece of kit.

If you can get one at this price go for it - a real bargain. Its a fantastic machine.

Yep, an absolute steal. I got one in Peats for 199 but that was after haggling down from 249.

I use it daily. Really excellent piece of kit.

I was in the Tallaght branch this morning. Its a mistake on the system. The manager searched the place and the backroom and couldn't find it. He told me to come back in 20 mins while he searched again - still couldn't find it. Took all of my details and said if it turns up they will contact me and hold it for me. This was at about 12:30 today. I'm guessing the person you spoke to on the phone didnt realise there was already a hold on the unit. But it makes no difference as it doesn't appear to exist.

Slightly off topic, but how far behind "live" radio would streaming be?

Do they have any other Squeezebox stuff reduced?

In particular I'm looking for a Squeezebox Touch at a good price...

    Cool.
I assume you meanless than 5 or 6, as opposed to 120?!

Would be using this to replace our current Philips unit as our day-to-day device, but couldn't handle it if the 6 o'clock news came on at 5 past!

They had the Squeezebox touch for around 200 euro if I recall correctly.

Dixons, Currys and PC World have the boom on their website for £120. Pity they dont deliver here.

I was watching the presidential candidates talking today on RTE News Now (Saoirview) and listening to it on my old SB3, and the online streamed sound was coming in about 2 seconds EARLIER.

There's an official app available for iPhone and Android - it's excellent and free.

Is this bargain available as stated or not? i.e. Can I go into my local PCW tomorrow and pick one up for €120? If not then what's the point of this thread?

Look - people post bargain alerts here. They may/may not be available in all stores.

Some people - myself included - got them; some didn't. Luck of the draw.

    Take a chill pill.

I don't think there's a single one of these units available at this price. I think this "bargain alert" was a bit of a lucky accident for one or two people. Therefore should this thread not be marked as expired? It certainly got my hopes up falsely. That's all I'm sayin, not as if I need to "chill" but thanks for the kind suggestion.

I agree with above, should be marked as expired. I asked pcworld to do a stock check in other stores. Tallaght had one but it was an error on the system, Navan also had one but no one has been out to check. They where the only two stores in Ireland listed as having any...

Yeah I saw that too. No the same though, the boom is meant to have awesome sound quality. That's why I was after it. It seems to be a product that is passed it's end of life. Makes you wonder if there's a successor in the pipeline...

A new boom with the features from the radio would be sweet. It's the only thing about the radio thats missing is a decent bit of kick. For what I use it for (kitchen radio) it does the job.. Trying to get my spotify account setup on it at the mo, then i'll be sorted..

Did you actually get one in Tallaght? If so I shall be making a complaint.

I went into the Jervis branch on Friday morning and they had none. He checked computer and said Tallaght had one. I asked if he could get them to hold it for me and he said he couldn't.

I told him that I had tried ringing Tallaght a number of times and they didn't answer. He laughed and said that the phones rarely get answered in PC World. Told me the only way was to go out to Tallaght to get it.

So I went out to Tallaght straight from Jervis and the guy there couldnt find the unit. He searched the floor and the backroom. Said it was strange that it was on the system but missing. Told me to come back in 20 mins. I did, he still couldnt find it but told me that it would be held for me if it turned up and took my details. Said he would ring me either way the following day to let me know.

I never heard back from him, so if you were able to ring up, put a hold on it and then collect it after all that its fairly annoying tbh.

Look, as I've already said myself and unkelrosco (post No. 15) got one each. I've seen several Tesco threads on here of a similar nature (having checked the Waterford stores myself), where it's available in some stores but not others. I know you're a bit miffed at not getting one, but them's the breaks.

I'd say so - thus the reduction. I can confirm about the sound quality. It is superb.

Have it in my basket on Amazon at the moment, can't bring myself to checking out though :(

I'd hold off.. I'd say they'll drop the prices soon. Seems to be dissapearing from most sites.

That's the problem, if they disappear from sites then I won't be able to get one...
