Me and my friends, the ones I have been friends with since school, spend practically all of our time taking the piss out of each other but there are lines that are not crossed. Everyone has stuff that really gets to them and it goes without saying that that stuff is off limits. I don't think you should take the piss too much unless you are good enough friends with the person to know where the line is, if you cross the line then you are out to make them feel bad and that makes you an asshole in my book.

If you slag someone off for listening to girls music, or wearing a ponytail, underlying that slagging, you want them to conform to your standards.
You want them to change.
