I'm in a really strong and fun relationship. I have good friends, lots of acquaintances and generally feel liked. But if there's any sort of a hiccup in my life, I just burst into tears. Like, even small stuff like burning dinner could have me crying because I'd feel so useless. I feel rejected a lot of the time. I just don't know how to cope with it.

All my life I was the top of what I did. But now, in college, I feel below average. I'm not used to it, and it pains me sometimes to feel so ****e when I compare myself to my classmates. I just feel so useless sometimes. I don't know how to deal with this, any advice? I just hate feeling sad :(

You sound a lot like me. I tend to get worked up easily and get very upset over things which should be brushed over. It's easier said than done, but you need to relax and breathe when things happen like burning the dinner and count to ten before you lose it.

When it comes to feeling shíte because you're not number one in college-that's life! No matter what you do and how good you are, there are always going to be someone better than you. You have to learn to accept this and just try to do well for yourself, instead of constantly comparing yourself to other people.

Honestly, chin up! Things could be a lot worse, just try to get some perspective on things! :)

There's a huge difference between school and college. People are in school because they have to be! So there are so many varying abilities. If you're bright, confident etc it's very easy to be "top dog".

But once you get to college you're in a different league. People from all over the country, from various schools have elected to do that course.. because they want to be there. So you soon figure out, rather than being the one who stands out in the class, you are now the "average student", in a huge college.

If you are stressed in one aspect of your life, it knocks on to all other aspects. So if you're stressed or worried or upset about college, simple things not working out for you will just spill out the tension and stress you are feeling and result in the easiest form of tension release..... tears!

A good trick is to write things down. Get a note book that you can scribble things in, just to offload them. Almost like a diary. It's so simple, but it really is so effective in getting things out of your head.

Also the one thing to keep telling yourself is, you're experiences at the moment are most definitely not unique.
