    Tender published today on etenders:

    Title: Design of Schematic Posters and Leaflets of Dublin Area Transport Maps

    Published by: National Transport Authority Publication Date: 27/09/2011 Application Deadline:
    Notice Deadline Date: 18/10/2011 Notice Deadline Time: 12:00 Notice Type: Invitation to Tender Has Documents: Yes

    Abstract: Under Section 60 of the Dublin Transport Authority Act 2008 (as amended) the National Transport Authority has a statutory remit to provide integrated public transport information.

    The National Transport Authority seeks assistance from interested parties in the design of schematic leaflets and posters containing public transport maps for the Greater Dublin Area.

    The purpose of the schematic posters, leaflets and maps is to provide information on travel options available to people living or working in or visiting the Dublin area. Each map is intended to be available for incorporation into the following:

    • leaflet or poster providing information on public transport within the Greater Dublin Area, or a local area within the Greater Dublin Area;
    • poster for display at a train station or Luas stop; and
    • poster for display at a bus stop/shelter.

    They should also be downloadable from a website as a printable PDF, legible at A4 and other sizes.

    Based on a preliminary investigation of public transport maps available in other European cities, and taking into consideration the characteristics of the public transport network in the Dublin area, the following maps are identified as required:

    A. Dublin Metropolitan Area map
    B. Dublin Commuter belt map
    C. Local area maps (within the Metropolitan Area)

    It is very disappointing that this map fails to indicate the 2 Luas lines and Dart service, especially given the fact that they only would have added 3 lines to the map
    CIE seems unable to view Dublin as having one transport system, which explains why the NTA had to step in.

    (Not sure the author is aware of the other commuter rail lines tho)

    F_ck sake. Publish GTFS/XML feeds and let people roll their own. You'll get a lot more innovation than people who know how to reply to a tender.
