Just heard/read a couple so far, any other good ones:

Damien Varley - Suz, Susan Boyle
    Conor Murray- Bieber, Justin Bieber

Usual apologies if this has been done before, I didn't see it other than a bit here

Didn't the rest of the squad start calling Paulie, 'The Psyco', a few years back?
I don't think he liked it very much.

Have you not seen the photos of the Irish lads in The Score?

It may have been a different publication but essentially the lads were at a photoshoot and had to pose in the way they wanted. Mushy posed with his kids, Kearney did graffitti face, BOD and ROG were playing tennis or something, POC with his baby...

The photo of Murray is a close up, just a head shot, and he's the bulb off Bieber in the photo - even down to the hair! I'll try find the pic.

    Edit: Pics here: http://thescore.thejournal.ie/in-pictures-irelands-rugby-playes-like-youve-never-seen-them-before-212401-Aug2011/

I'm sure there is some deep meaning behind it that will make me look/feel like a dìck but, the picture of Cullen is one of the creepiest things I've seen...

During the last Lions tour I heard that ROG had picked up the nickname Speedbump.

If Cullen isn't called Miley, well Holy God, I don't know what he'd be called.

I think you'll get some from POC's late late interview a year or two back. Think he says Kearney's nickname is 'Handsome'

Rob and David are collectively known as the kearndashians :P

  • with regards to the insulting nicknames. Do we have an awful lot of them?

    Buckley - Buckle
Cullen - Plug (Bash Street Kids)
    DOC - Dale Winton
    Heaslip - Houdini
    ROG - Speedbump/Turnstile

There's gotta be more than that? Any Southern Hemisphere guys on here with more for us? Its always interesting to see how others perceive your players weaknesses*.

*Obviously Sean O'Brien and Stephen Ferris are excluded from this.

    Why's Heaslip called Houdini?

  • Why's Heaslip called Houdini?

a perceived notion that he goes missing for big games.

It's laughable really. But we hardly come up with the "insulting" nicknames ourselves!

Is Ferris not Fez? Darren Cave is Hollywood I taught.

Had Martin Johnson named Geordan Murphy 'pikey' some years ago.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭durkadurka

Heaslip gets called showpony by haters too.

Actually we did. Houdini and showpony all originated on a popular Munster supporting forum. Sad but thats the reality. Buckle for Buckley came from Gwlad I believe.
