It's usually around now that the provisional fixtures come out. Early October would be the latest I'd say.

We played Kerry in Killarney in 2010 and in 2011 we played them in Croke Park.Had neither team been in the All Ireland Final,it could be in Killarney but due to the final and the fact the GAA are really starting to market the league,it will more than likely be in Croke Park.

What a pain in the arse. Fitzgerald Stadium has to be one of the most beautiful places in Ireland to watch Gaelic Football.

I usually stay with friends in Cork the night before and drive over on the morning (went to UCC). The league is the only time we ever get to go anywhere. There's zero chance of us having a Championship match outside Croke Park for the foreseeable future. If the Tipperary game last year didn't get moved then no game will.

Dublin v Kerry should be a floodlit game in Croke Park to open the league. It attracts a full house and the GAA make a tidy sum, which they invest over 80% of directly back into the game, which is what they do with every cent they take in. What's the problem with that?

It's the "Dublin-Home-Ground Paradox". Dublin followers (the ones who stretch their legs when the bandwagon is less than full) LOVE to go to venues outside Dublin. The last Championship match outside Croke Park for Dublin (Longford) was absolutely great craic for both sets of fans in an absolutely packed out Pearse Park. A game memorable for Mark Vaughan getting the jammiest goal I'd ever seen at the time when the ball bounced on the concrete-esque pitch and cleared the full back, leaving Vaughan 1-on-1 with the keeper.

Since the Championship is not going to yield those days anymore we only get to travel to league games but the new Spring Series initiative and the fact that Dublin are now AI Champions means that it's likely they'll shove us in Croke Park as much as humanly possible. Also, given that Kerry fans are absolutely the best fans I've ever had the pleasure of sharing a pint with, missing out on a trip to Killarney for a rematch of the final is a real disappointment.

Yes the money goes back into the GAA and that's good but it's about perspective. People give out about Dublin getting to play in Croke Park so much but looked at from another perspective the Dubs are the cash cows of the GAA who are milked for every penny they can generate. It does a team the world of good to go and eek out a tough game in Pairc Ui Caoimh (worst intercounty ground in Ireland), Fitzgerald Stadium or Clones. Dublin shouldn't be denied those opportunities. Nor should Dublin fans be denied the joy of travelling to support their team. Dubs are accused of having it easy re: expense of supporting their team but, in reality, we'd love nothing more than to have the opportunity to travel more often ourselves!

We can have other away games, I just think about the money that goes back into the game and the publicity the league badly needs as a competition. We're not talking about denying Dublin fans the chance to travel, I'm hoping for an away day in Armagh myself (I'm a Dub as well), I'm just thinking we should make that particular game a home game and the first game of the season to maximise publicity and press for the league because it needs it more than you need a day out in Killarney.

There's a bigger picture is the point I'm making and we play a standard amount of away games anyway, nobody is asking for that to change.

while im sure theyll keep dublin and kerry together for the league as it makes sense dont forget theres a league revamp and sometimes sense doesnt happen in the gaa so they could end up in two different divisions!!

theres always been a home and away arrangement in the national leagues. Every second year you get a home game. By rearranging the Dublin Kerry game to a home game again in 2012 for Dublin means rewriting all the fixtures to ensure Kerry get a different home game. Why should every other counties fixtures be rearranged for the sake of Dublin and their fans. THey dont need to be playing Kerry in the opening game to get a big crowd. No matter who they play in the 1st game in Croke Park they should break 60,000. The league isnt about getting as many dubs as possible into Croke Park

I never said for the benefit of Dublin fans, I'm making an argument about it being for the benefit of the overall league. It would bring a full house and potentially a live TV game that will increase publicity for the league.

I don't care who we play at home, I'll be there but if we have a repeat of the All Ireland final it will generate a massive publicity for an Allianz League game, how often do we see that?

Think the revamp idea was shelved for next year.

Think the Divisions are staying 1,2,3,4 for the forseeable future.

Will be surprising if Dublin don't get 4 home games again this year.

I personally think it would be unfair that Cork/Kerry/Down/Mayo be asked to travel again.

Surely County Boards across the Country see a tie against Dublin as a bit of a crowd booster (especially now as they are All-Ireland Champs) so there might be some objection from them to not getting the return fixture this year.

Armagh/Laois/Donegal wouldn't make for the most attractive Spring Series ticket either.

Will be hard to keep everyone happy!

Thats a very good point. Cork/Kerry/Mayo/Down should insist on having the DUbs come to them this year. Those 4 counties derve the crowd puller in their venue aswell.

    Woah there!

It's Dublin fans bemoaning the idea that the game would be moved. We WANT it to be in Killarney. The move wouldn't be for the benefit of Dublin and the Dub fans, it would be for the benefit of the GAA and marketing for the League.

Apologies, worded it wrongly! I don't mean the Dublin fans wanted the schedule altered. What's annoying me is the notion of the GAA screwing up the arrangements to make an extra few quid by getting as many dubs as possible into the spring series

    Prophetic :D
    Dublin start off against Kerry
No sign of division 2, 3 or 4 fixtures yet. Praying for away games against Westmeath, Louth and Kildare/Laois but I sense a trip to Galway and/or Omagh may be on the cards.

Going into the National League as All-Ireland Champions.

Has a brilliant ring to it.

We should be home to Derry and Kildare and away to Tyrone.

Not sure about the others and what the story is with the home-away rota.

Galway have been in Div 1 for a long time and we haven't played Louth in the League for a while.

Would have played Monaghan and Westmeath in recent years as they were in Div 2 with us but not sure if were due a home or away against them.

    Edit:
Played Westmeath in Navan in 2010 so should be away to them for 2012.

Yup. Dunno how they slipped into my post
So hopefully we get Westmeath and Louth away so not too far to travel. Monaghan wouldn't be too bad unless it's in Scottstown. Last time we played them away it was there. the road through it can only be described as a country lane. Traffic was ridiculous.

Don't think there's necessarily a system whereby if you're home one year, you're away against the same team the next. I know we played Kildare in Navan two years in a row in 09 and 10. We played Monaghan last in 2009 in Navan.
Omagh wouldn't be too bad I suppose but I hope I don't have to head up to Derry again.

Allianz FL Division 2 draft fixtures:
Sat 4th feb, Meath v Monaghan, Kildare v Tyrone
Sun 5th Feb Derry v Galway, Louth v Westmeath

Sat 11th Feb. Tyrone v Derry
Sun 12th Feb Westmeath v Meath, Monaghan v Kildare, Galway v Louth

Sat 3rd march Derry v Monaghan , Meath v Kildare
Sun 4th march Westmeath v Galway, Louth v Tyrone

Sat 10th march Tyrone v Westmeath
Sun 11th march Monaghan v Louth, Galway v Meath, Kildare v Derry

Sun march 18th Westmeath v Monaghan, Meath v Derry, Louth v Kildare, Galway v Tyrone

Sat march 24th Derry v Louth, Tyrone v Meath,
Sun match 25th Monaghan v Galway, Kildare v Westmeath

Sun April 8th Westmeath v Derry, Meath v Louth, Tyrone v Monaghan, Galway v Kildare
3 away games. Short trip to Mullingar and 2 lengthy(ish) ones to Omangh and Galway. Never been to either Healy Park or Pearse Stadium so it'll be a nice change. Anyhting less than two wins in the first two games will be a disappointment, and if the lads can't put in a performance against Kildare, there's something seriously wrong.
Last game should be tasty if there's still something to play for :D

Good draw for the Lily's, great to have Derry and Tyrone at home rather than trekking up north.

I expect us to beat Westmeath, Louth, Derry and Meath, Monaghan away will be tough although on our last visit to Clones we won, Galway away will be extremely tough, Galway are Kildare's bogey team so to get anything from Salthill will be hard. Tyrone at home is hard to call.

Omagh is too far for me, Mullingar and Salthill both handy enough trips...

Anyone know where a full fixture list can be found in both hurling and football and for all divisions.
