    Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone has ever has this done? I have a small mole (flesh coloured) on my face ( a la Sarah Jessica Parker!) and would like to have it removed. Just wondering do i go to my GP or to a cosmetic surgeon and will I have a bandage on ym face afterwards etc?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Youll need to go to your gp in the first instance and ask to be referred to have the mole removed. They are also best placed to answer your queries about whether youll be bandaged up afterwards.

My husband had several non-malignant moles removed. But they weren't from his face.

He had them removed under LA, and stitches afterwards. They weren't bandaged or anything like that.

If the mole is on your face, would it be a good idea to remove it? I'm just thinking of the scarring issue. Have you spoken to your doctor about this?

I only ask, as I have skin tags on my face, and my GP has advised they not be removed because the scar left would be bigger than the actual tag.

I would speak to your GP first.

I had a mole on my face (left of mouth) the size of a Boards smiley face ;) which I got removed a few years ago. I had it performed by a cosmetic surgeon as while I know GPs routinely remove moles for patients, they would often be located in less visible areas like the back etc so if scarring occured it wouldn't be so obvious and of concern. With your face, this is obviously something some would be more concerned about as the scar would always be visible, hence the recommendation that you go with a cosmetic surgeon.

The results for me were perfect and my skin is clear of any evidence of a former mole and no scar. It also cost less than 200 euro so I thought it well worth it. As an optional extra, he arranged for a cancer check to be performed on it which thankfully the results showed as harmless. I suggest you consider a cosmetic surgeon for facial mole removals.

To answer your question on bandaging, I had to wear one for a few days while the "cut" healed.
