Saorview without the box...?

    So here's our set-up:
Primary: Sky+HD box downstairs, (PS3 beside it) which feeds into a 4x2 matrix, 1st feed from the matrix feeds the TV above it and the 2nd feed goes via a 15m HDMI cable to second HD tv in bedroom.

Secondary: Standard Sky+ box is in the attic which is fed/split to the kids rooms via a 4-way loft box.

No old style areal or any other redundant system. We've had Sky since we bought the house from new in 2002 and nothing else.

Now here's the good-un: The young fella bought a nice Sony 32" TV with his birthday money not so long ago. Today we discovered he has the digital channels on it complete with EPG.
    How'd that happen?

So this tv is plugged into the feed from the loftbox? Do you live near a Saorview transmitter?

Sounds like he has an iDTV which is picking up Saorview.

    Moved to terrestrial

The only feed this newer tv is getting is via a coax cable from the loft box. Living in a semi-d and the neighbor has some sort of terrestrial ariel on his chimney if that helps...not that I'm complaining or anything :)

You're probably in a strong signal area with the co-ax cable from the attic acting like an aerial and picking up the terrestrial signal. You might be subject to interference or loss of signal on occasions with that setup.

So to get this saorview I take it I dont need a set-top box just an aerial, what type do I need?

The coverage checker will show your recommended transmitter (you can probably see it if the signal is so strong).

A log-periodic aerial like these would be a good choice & will suit all transmitters.
