Attic insulation

Ok, have done a lot of house up and insulated all the walls with slabs etc. I have changed heating to gas and put in High Efficent Gas boiler. When installing I had a look at insulation in attic. I think it needs replacing. No point spending all that money and losing it through the attic.

So just wondering what is best insulation? Is it best just to use Fibreglass and it so what depth?

Looked on goodwins and they have a few options. have you used Rockwell Flexi before?

Also do you know where is the cheapest to buy insulation? I have looked on couple of sites and the price range from all over the place?

Also as I insulate more in attic what is best way to protect pipes?

Working in an attic is torture.

Knauf 200mm earthwool is probably the best stuff to use in a attic because it's not as itchy as rockwool, isocover and so on.

Stick to 200m whatever you do buy and just roll it out over the joists.

I know all about it, used to do it years ago when I was a young fellow. Would be dying afterwards with the older guys on sites laughing at us.

Earthwool is easier to work with but is the exact same as rockwool.
200mm minimum thickness .At the moment Im using rockwool on jobs at 10 euro a roll from b and q. Once your using a mask no matter what your using your fine . If its cut ti size there wont be as big a release of particals. If you opt for earthwool pay no more than 16 a roll.

Yep I bought Rockwool Flexi Slab 100mm off of Goodwins,Adamstown

Great for thermal and accoustic insulation.

I installed it around my downlights and then I placed Knauf 170mm insulation ontop of that.3 euro a roll (sourced from the UK)

Snug as a bug in a rug.:)

About 20 euro.Quite possibly more than that.

I also used this insulation before for under the floor downstairs to stop heat going through the floor or cold coming up. Was thinking about putting this up against the roof, anyone done this? any good?

Focus DIY (now gone bust) Wickes and Homebase.

You need to provide a full UK address and a postecode though in order to get it at this price,as its a british goverment grant type scheme.
