    It's silver.

    That yoke?

Looks about €1500 overpriced at least, if not €2000 as it's NCTless, don't think they are MG wheels either although I could well be wrong on that.

    Wouldn't touch it personally.

The Rover 75 diesel does fit the bill though :)

You wont get any diesel for 3k under 1.8 diesel. There are a few but they wont suit like a mk2 jetta and saxo, nearest would be 1.7 diesel astra

I've been keeping my eye on this for a few weeks, it went for test 2 weeks ago and failed on steering and small stuff

If it dropped by 700 it'd def be worth a look. I'm seriously tempted to be honest.

theres a ford focus 1.6 diesel but they are post 2005 I think and maybe out of that price range. Some of the peugeots and renaults are 1.5 diesel but I dont know how they rate for reliability. price the insurance first before ruling the mondeo out, its worth having a bigger car for high mileage in my opinion for the sake of comfort.

If carrying passengers wasn't an issue you could go for a carvan, cheaper tax and possibly cheaper insurance

I know €2000 is €2000 but for €5000 you'd land an 04 ZT diesel from England no bother at all, a 01 75 for €3000 isn't value at all in comparison. For €3000 you'd get better diesel 75 too. Now admittedly if it's the ZT front end that tickles your fancy that does make that particular one fairly unique.

I'd hate to see someone spend €3000 on that though, especially a top man like yourself.

Ah, I'll land a bargain somewhere. It'll have to be a 135hp and a conn model.
The right. ZT might do the trick but I don't think the interior is a patch on an olde worlde leathered up toy laden 75

Yeah that's true, some of the later ZTs are full leather though, the half leather half matrix efforts are sh1t enough really.

Purely out of interest what is so great about these 75 Diesels anyway?

The fact that very few people would consider them makes them great value.

Good engine and good overall reliability, parts supply is still good but some parts can cost a bit.

Good comfort, good spec and nice to drive

There's nothing so great about them.

They combine a decent level of comfort in a biggish car with good mpg and very few problems.

Crap interior though... Odd looks too. They do seem to be reliable though or is it just the BMW engine that is reliable..

    Subjective at best.

I think they look well and the interior is nice

The only small engined diesel you will get for €3k max is something like a 1.7d Opel Astra from the early to mid 2000s. Small diesels really only caught on in the last 6 or 7 years and decent ones still cost more than €3k.

I have a 2.5 KV6 in my ZT, perfectly reliable.

A lot/or all of the electrics are bmw based too, so they are reliable.

Rovers always had great seats, the turbo is from mitsubishi and the auto box from jatco. All plus points.
