What a great shot he played on the 2nd playoff hole. Was glad to see him go on and win the 11 plus millon dollars at the next hole

has to be a contender for shot of the year given the fact he was all but out of the play-off at that stage. Savage.

Balls of steel, Mahan had the stuffing knocked out of him by that shot.
Love the fearless almost non-commital way Haas plays.

Shot of the year for sure, with all that cash on the line.

Unreal shot. Just a question on repairing pitch marks, I noticed Bill while surveying the contours of the green before the shot repaired a pitch mark. For some reason I thought you couldn't repair your or another pitch mark until actually on the putting surface?

Nah, you can always repair them when they are on the putting surface, it's when the actual pitch mark is off the surface you can't repair it I think (or not before your shot anyway)

The $11.4m was on the line but completely unbeknownst to Haas, as he asked the Tournament director (or someone like that) before the presentation - "so who won the Fedex Cup then ? " and got the surprise of his life when he was told he had won that too !

Bloody great shot though - how do you get spin out of water

I was also expecting him to get covered in muck when he hit it - I tried a shot like that a couple of years ago and got a royal soaking :o

Incredible shot. One of the best pressure shots I've seen. Not sure if any shot deserves to be an $11.4m shot, but that was pretty good!

Although it was technically in water, only a bout a third of the ball was actually covered by water. He said himself it was like playing a bunker shot albeit a very wet bunker. The fact that he manged to generate spin like that made it a special shot.

Watching it live was a little WTF moment. It definitely knocked Mahan back.

There's a lesson in there for all of us. Less than 50 seconds after getting to his ball sitting in the water with 10 million dollars on the line he hit the shot.

When you think of some of the slow play on our courses on a Sunday with some eejit standing over a bog standard 8 iron from the fairway for 3 minutes and 17 practice swings with nothing but a bit of credit in the golf shop at stake, think of Bill Hass on Sunday at the Tour Championship!

What is incredible to me is not so much the shot he pulled off but the fact the he saw the ball, grabbed a club, had a quick think and then pulled it off...

    Incredible!

Am I the only one who thinks that was about 50% to do with luck?! You have no idea how the club is going to react hitting water like that, nevermind what the ball is going to do...

Not at all! It was like a bunker shot, but how often would any of those guys practice that shot enough to know what to expect?

It was brilliant because he was fearless, commited to it, and didn't hesitate with so much at stake. Luck is irrelevant!!!

    +1

He was visibly delighted when he saw it there. Next thing you know it's 2 ft from the hole.

He said he was lucky in the post match interview. Very little luck involved there - class execution.
