On Sat night my Canon 7D was left in a taxi by a friend of mine. I'm hoping someone will hand it in somewhere. It's a long shot but I don't have much else.

Details are as follows, if you hear of anything similar turning up for sale on any sites please let me know...

Any advice would be very welcome.

Apologies of this is in the wrong place.

Hope to god you get it back or at the bare minimum, you have it insured!
I remember when i was driving a taxi for a few months, when one passenger got out, you never really check the back to see if anything is there, and what happens is the next passenger gets in, and swipes it :(

had you got contact details in the bag?

Get in touch with the Carriage Office and see if anything was reported.
    See this link.

I see that 'Please note property will not be accepted at the Carriage Office in Santry.'

Do you know where he was picked up from and dropped off too?
May be worth posting along with any details on the Taxi.

Judging by what the OP said in his first post, he has already got in touch with the taxi man as he says :

No insurance. And, unluckily no contact info in the bag. Cleared it out recently... My other 2 camera bags are full of business cards :(

Been checking all the online sales sites and have phoned every camera shop in town with the serial number.

Went to Pearse St Garda Station and reported it missing. Apparently the Carriage Office exists no longer. Rang Store St (one of the new 5 stations who deal with lost n found) and they fobbed me off.

Relying on the inherent good of people now!

    What a nightmare :-(

If you haven't already, try http://www.stolencamerafinder.com/

It's a bit hit an miss. More miss for me, where it doesn't even find my own images online, but you might be lucky.

Also you can setup keyword searches on adverts.ie, gumtree.ie, donedeal.ie etc. so you can hopefully identify the kit if someone puts it up for sale.

I hope you recover it. It's a lot of kit!
