Why is Jim Power still allowed on radio panels?

I've been hammering on about this for a while, but I just dont understand how Jim Power is allowed on radio panel shows ostensibly to criticise Government, regulation, banking, .. etc etc... this morning for example, Jim Power was getting on his soapbox about how the Irish people had been let down by the regulator, the politicians, blah blah blah..... when the failure closet to home is COMPLETELY ignored..

So I'm starting the campaign here... The Get Jim Power Removed From Radio Panel Shows campaign.. Never, in the future, let suggestible people be influenced by this man..

Just watched it and it is shocking. Particularly as he is talking while the actual bust was starting.

Has anyone every asked him directly about this? I would be very curious to hear him spinning........

He's publicly apologised to Morgan Kelly .. and usually includes a token reference to how "I should have been a better student of economic history" when he is contributing.... It's just not good enough.. Proper economists put together the figures and could see that houses were hugely overvalued, but I guess the fact that Friend's First were stuffing his pockets full of money disuaded him from rocking the boat..

I remember him on with Dunphy on the last word in 2001 explaining how Ireland was heading for recession in the following 2-5 years, seems he has never got it right either way!

one of many "experts" who should be banished from the airwaves.

He couldnt come out if he knew that property was crashing because he was employed by a bank but even now he still waffles on. Dont know what makes him an "expert"

Well our old friend Marzie thinks the sun shines out of his arse, on the rare occasions when she actually hosts her own (named) show, Jim is regularly trotted out to agree with Marians anti-EU agenda.

Apparently, the self-styled financial genius Jim also predicted the € crisis long before the single currency's inception back in 1990's, but stayed quiet about it until ....uhm....two years or so back.

To listen to him now, when he's on his "I said it all along Marian" mantra, is revolting.

After the death of Osama Bin Laden in May 2011, Jim gave his opinions on 9/11 on The Eamonn Dunphy Show on 8th May 2011

There are plenty of people who would go on panels for free - I wonder how the panellists are selected?

It's worse than that. He doesn't understand bank balance sheets (his own admission) He can't even remember what year he went on prime time and tried to rubbish Morgan Kelly. It was April 2007 Jim, not 2006 as you claim. This part of this interview above is just a pathetic attempt to spin himself back into favour. Sorry Jim but your credibility is in the toilet in my house.

You Boards Radio forum heads might take an hour to listen to this:
Professor Morgan Kelly - The Hubert Butler Annual Lecture

    this audio is also here:

It's a pretty good explanation of where we are and how we got here.

His credibility is shot. Nobody can possibly take him seriously anymore. I actually smile when I hear him talking about the economy.

lots of commentators have lost credibility yet still appear every now and again , my biggest problem with power is that he is a terrible media performer , completley wooden

A diploma in economics in Independent College Dublin (whereever that is).
His soft landings class was taken off the curriculum apparently.

Yep, its him all right. And Nora has just said she'd rather have a panel made up entirely of taxi drivers.

    So would I.
