Mondeo 02 1.8 Timing Chain - Fixable/Terminal?

Seems like the timing chain is gone on 02 Mondeo 1.8 Petrol.

Car turns over but does not start, and look in oil cap and camshafts not moving. Take off rocker cover, chain in place but not turning while crank is turning.

Anybody any experience of this on a Mondeo? Car on 130k miles, but newer engine on supposedly 80k. There was some tappety type noise on accelleration.

So what you recon? Easy Fix or Terminal? What specifically could be causing it? Would valves be bent also? (though think it only happened while trying to start the car as opposed to when the car was running)

I'd say you could be looking at a new head at that rate, also maybe a new pulley or it could even be the key way that broke off causing the pulley to slip. It would be cheaper to slip in a second hand engine.
