TV license advice?

Hi. I need some advice. In Mar 2011, I received a letter (addressed to me) informing me that I had no tv license for the address and advising me to get one. In June 2011, I stupidly answered the door to a tv license inspector (I live in an apartment) to whom I confirmed I was the named person, that I did not have a license and I did possess a tv. I was travelling for the next few months and when I returned in August, I had received a letter informing me of legal proceedings. As I was moving out of the apartment, I decided not to purchase a license. I rang the tv license office in September to inform them that I had moved address and that I already had a tv license at my new address although it was not in my name (I live with my parents who don't pay for a license as they are over 70). The lady informed me that this did not make a difference and I would still have to pay the license for the apartment as when the inspector called there was no license for the address at which I was living. I pointed out that I no longer lived there and that a tv license was for a year so why would I pay a license for a year in advance for a place I no longer live at. I have now received a letter informing me of 'final notice of legal proceedings'. Any advice??

You got the letter in March, so even assuming you only moved in then, you'd be paying for 6 months of living there anyway. Suck it up and pay the licence - it'll be cheaper than a fine and any other costs you might get hit with going to court.

    dont pay. never back down:D

i moved into a place that has a tv. i dont have cable nor do i intend to get cable or sat. i am not getting a tv license since the tv is merely an ornament. i considered using rabbit ears to get rte for thr rugby but im starting to think that is too difficult and way too much stress.

i am not getting a tv license as its noting but extortionary. the fact i should pay 15o quid for something i would be paying a tv company for. boll#x
