Best file sharing website for collaboration - must have file lock or checkout feature

    Hi, I need online file storage, for storage and collaboration.

    I don't need it to handle simultaneous editing, just file locking / checkout in order to ensure there is no branching or conflict.

    I currently use Dropbox. But it does not have file locking / checkout, so I get conflicted files.

    Can anyone recommend something free or cheap that would suit please?

    Would Google docs work? I want to keep the files in their original format i.e. don't want to convert them.

    Maybe, but I think you have to download to edit, so that is not ideal.

    I am looking for a simple checkout process, or even file locking when someone else is editing the file. Dropbox works well, except for lacking this feature.
