    boo just boo.

I do like a good ghost story and good in that its acknowledgement of the dead but I reckon folks like to convince emselves of such for that hairs on the back of neck sensation they just can't generate otherwise.

only time I tried convince myself of something paranormal was when I was headed up kiltipper hill into the forest cos I thought the boys were up there n I saw a flickering flame thinking campfire

I was determined this fire was there, turns out it was merely an apparition to lure me!!

    .. to nothing. Hah...

I seen things that could be ghosts on a number of occasions but as i'm really anti after life etc it kinda does not make sense to me-all i can put it down too is energy or something.. only thing that makes me any way curios as to after life etc

People claim to believe in ghosts because they've witnessed things that 'can't be explained'. However, that just means the witness can't explain it; it doesn't mean there isn't a rational, naturalistic explanation. People like jumping to fanciful conclusions and don't stop to consider the possibility that either they imagined it, were hallucinating or witnessed a rare or poorly understood (by the person themselves) but still natural phenomenon.

There aren't nearly as many ghost stories since electric lighting was introduced. I think most ghost stories came from fear of the dark/scary shadows

Leave it to Billy to tell it like it is:

You are the type of what the age is searching for, and what it is afraid it has found. I am so glad that you have never done anything, never carved a statue, or painted a picture, or produced anything outside of yourself! Life has been your art. You have set yourself to music. Your days are your sonnets.

It's arrogant of us to think we understand everything. Sure, those guys doing the atomic research in switzerland reckon there are a number of other dimensions. So the chances are that stuff happens now and then that we can't explain. So ghosts.....why not??

Well, just who thinks that they understand everything? I don't. The guys in Switzerland don't. I fail to understand these accusations of "scientific arrogance", since it's generally non-scientists who claim to have the answers, even when their "answers" aren't actually answers.

If you claim that spirits are behind things you can't explain ... just what have you explained? You're just "kicking the can down the road", aren't you? Unless it's backed by actual evidence (not just "eyewitness testimony"), it's just words. It's not enough to say "ghosts|spirits|god did it" if you can't say anything about how they did it. Never mind why.

I need a better reason than 'why not' would be the main sticking point.

That's a fair statment but why don't ghosts return and provide just basic information in the cases where their death is unsolved or there is mystery? ghosts NEVER seem to be in a position to provide practical useful assistance to their so called loved ones. But I forget, there are rules!

Ghosts rules from the Department of Ghosts.

The supernatural is bull****. It's a device to keep the gullible and foolish out of the comfiest beds and the important rooms in stately manors.

Look at that twat AP McCoy. Ran out of a million pound house by a 'ghost'. The fückin' dirty bollix!

the odds against actually contacting an ghosts are 175 million to one. “The people who claim they see ghosts are always pathetic low-lifes with boring jobs, Oh, and you, Dad.”

Anyone, and I mean ANYONE, who spots something strange and jumps to the conclusion that it was a ghost is missing an important part of their brain.

Sure there are things that science can't explain but it can explain curtains moving, strange voices, odd figures, ouija boards, demons on chests, chanelling and a whole bunch of other ghostly manifestations.

It can't explain things like why a neutrino beam should travel faster than light in a recent experiment at CERN but I don't hear anyone blaming that on ghosts.

I've seen the kinds of logical leaps that people make on some of the dumber forums and there is definitely an inverse correlation between belief in ghosts and the power of logical deduction.

    tl;dr

people who believe in ghosts aren't quite right in the head.

    *runs*

i am a part of a small paranormal investigation group and i would be a massive sceptic but there is only so much that i can be sceptoc about. we have caught some noises and voices. the best one was when we were in a graveyard, i caught a voice on my digital recorder telling be "hands off the grave". its hard to believe but its true and i am still a sceptic
