Internal Memory issues

    Searched the forum, but cant see any solutions to my own problem.

    Have a glaxy ace, and rooted it, but still have it on stock rom. Have a 16GB card, and partioned it to have over 500MB on EXT2 partition. Used link2sd to move pretty much all my apps to SD card, and there are only about 20MB of apps still on phone, google maps taking up 10MB of that.

    Have cleared the cahce, have deleted text messages, all photos are on the SD card, yet I only have 17MB of internal phone memory and its a disaster. If I use the internet for any amount of time, the warning comes up, and text messages dont come through. Its a right pain in the hole.

    Do I need to bite the bullet and install a custom rom? there isnt that much development on the ace from what I can see, so hesitant enough to flash a new rom. is there any simple solution I havnt explored to create space?
