I am just wondering if a version 3 gearbox will fit in an m16 with some work. The main concern is, if the air nozzle at the front of the gearbox will fit into the m16 hop-up chamber and shoot correctly. As for the rest of the gun. I will be doing away with the grip and different things like that? Hope you can get back to me on this. Thank you

short answer... No. selector works an entirely different way, youd need to make custom parts for that, the width is different, trigger size, different, its slightly longer too iirc.

Why would you want to? The v2 was made for the m4, the v3 for different guns, with different size limitations. theres not much point putting one in an m4.

The gearbox is from a jg aug. My idea was to set it on full auto only/ no semi or safety, cut off the hand grip and make my own to fit. So my main worries are will the nozzle at the front of the gearbox fit into a m16 hop-up chamber/rubber without being to big or loosing air and if the m4/m16 body will be wide enough to hold the gearbox. Howerer i can cut different things like the opening for the trigger etc if i need to

The long and short of it is sweet FA people here will have tried, for as FireKitten mentioned, the V2 was designed for the spacial limitations of the M4/M16, whereas the V3 was designed for guns that had slightly more space.

That said, it may be in some way possible to fabricate, although I would be sure you will spend many a pretty penny doing so. Most MP5's use a V2 GB, but the MP5K uses a modified V3.

I really can't see the point, if I'm perfectly honest. I think you'd be better off spending the time and money on a different project. But by all means go for it!

The answer is no, lots and lots of reasons why not but the first one and clearest is simply the motor cage, that simply will not fit in an m4 receiver

there is a reason we still use the v2 gearbox in aeg even with it having some weaknesses , it's size and motor configuration allow it to fit where the stronger v3 for example will not go , with aegs it always a balancing act with getting everything into the shells of the replicas
