Hi there, I'm just wondering if this is a good starter gaming PC for me to buy? http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B...&s=books&psc=1 I know it has no O/S but I will buy windows 7 at a later date. I'm just looking for a normal gaming computer that will run your average game at a good speed and decent graphics. I don't have alot of money to spend so I might go for this one. Let me know what youse think, thank you all .

The PSU doesn't look very capable of that, tbh..

That's strange.. there's a two year warranty on the parts of this PC so I doubht this particular company would try to rip people off, they are also a German company and Germans are renowned for their technology. I'll check it out though! Thanks.

Those are some sweet specs for that price. Has to be something up.

I agree, there is no operating system though and this is an upgrade option of a lowered down scale computer of the same make that can be found on Amazon. One person who commented on their purchase also received a nvidia gts450 instead of the gtx550. Amazon wouldn't allow them to sell though if they were scamming people... its a tough choice. A real bargain if they are giving away a system with them specs though :)

Yeah its defo a GTS 450 says it in the little selector thing. Also if only 1 person has bought it so far Amazon cant know its a scam. No OS isn't a problem for most people tho. And also Pseudo was saying that PSU doesn't look right.

Why is it listed in books?

Not too bad then, a gts is decent and I'd say many people have bought off them, they just did not bother coming back to Amazon to tell us :P and to play games you need windows 7 these days, well for good games and it's listed under books because I selected that for some reason.. if you search through the gaming pc section you'll be quite suprised at the specs of some computers and how low the prices are. I've researched the specs from the computer and they run decent but I can't find an actual page discussing this make of computer except for one small one on yahoo :)

That PSU isn't bad, its just not great either. The issue is that its not a great choice for that system due to the CPU and GPU. That rig will happily gobble down 250W at full tilt and the PSU has a capacity for >300W 12V power; it could be forced to pull over 80% of its capacity while gaming, which isn't good for reliability or longevity.

Assuming that the ad is telling porkies about the GPU and its only a GTS450 in there, you could build a similar rig with identical spec and exact same mobo and PSU for around €350, vs. well over €400 for the machine above. So the price isn't that good. And the odd mix of parts does imply that maybe the builder had a job lot of cheapo GTS450s handy, so they could have built it for even less.

IMHO you could build a better gaming PC yourself for >€400. A little less or similar CPU, stronger GPU (and PSU!)
