Any site will take you, really. :)

What county are you in? I'd recommend Rebel Airsoft but thats not much good to you if you don't live near Bandon, down in Cork.

Tallaght CQB is indoor but might be a bit full-on for a new player. It's located just off Belgard Road quite close to the Luas red line. They do rentals of AEGs & face protection for those without their own gear.

Oakridge is run by the same crew and isn't too far from Tallaght. I've never played there so you'd be advised to have a look at their thread in the sites area.

Red Barn is my regular venue. I think it would be a good place to start as it has multiple terrain types in the same venue and the cross-section of players varies from seasoned veterans to newbies. It would be a good place to see airsoft played & marshalled well if you're looking to gain experience. They are located in Ballybough. Google their website & check them out on FaceBook.

There a several other sites around Dublin. If a site, and more importantly the players who frequent it, is any good they will make new players welcome, if they don't then they don't deserve your business. As has been said many times we're a sociable bunch so don't be afraid to approach another player for info/assistance. It doesn't matter how new to teh game you are, it doesn't matter how good/bad you think you are, play with honour & integrity and you will enjoy yourself.

Thanks. well only thing that kind of came into my mind: I saw lots of sites outside dublin, and it creates to me impression that no one plays ther. Like that they are empty and so :D Don't know why though. Also all websites of those sites ar pretty outdated, last updates like 2months ago. Or are they usually full?

Well I ordered all gear today because I am just 100% solid confidently absolutely sure I will like it. Gotta wait a week for arrival. Well guns arrive tomorrow but clothes etc.. next week probably. So starting research where and what. Can't find any friends that would help me or so. Wish there was a person who I knew in airsoft who could bring me to some site and help around etc.. Onfortunetely none of my friends are into airsoft :(

For whatever reason many airsoft site websites don't tend to be updated all that often, most tend to interact with players here on boards or on FaceBook. Unless there are major changes to a site there's no real need to update the site and even less point having their own fora when everyone uses boards/ASI/Arnies/FaceBook anyway.

Don't worry man, head down to a site and you'll be welcomed instantly, we're a strange but welcoming bunch. The first site I went to was HRTA and I was welcomed instantly. One of the things that made me feel welcomed was when one of the lads came up to me and my mates and saw the nearly empty bottle of BB's and offered to let us use some of his. Found out later it was Defenderdude here on Boards. Trust me, you'll love it, it doesn't matter if you head down on your own or with mates, you'll be welcomed :)

    Ger.

you dont need to know anybody, one of the things i love about airsoft is how friendly the players are (offline of course ;))and how they welcome the new players into the fold. just turn up to a site and start talking to people and you will see, top tip to get the ball rolling, just ask them about their kit, airsofters LOVE to talk about their gear.

yeah in my opion they ruined the office block with the bang rule( you dont even need a weapon your so close its bang all the way :L) and with spring pistol only games im not wastin money on a ****ty springer :L a guy today was at the office and it was the first game and someone bang killed him, so he left and went to vacant which in my opimiom is the best indoor site in europe. its tactical and fast paced and its great for newbies as soome of the vets bring you with them and show you how whipp ass :D

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 986 ✭✭✭joe stodge

vacant is the premier airsoft site in ireland, nothing comes close to it.

bang kills ruin cqb airsoft. in fact i'd go as far too say bang kills ruin airsoft in general.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 414 ✭✭SpektorDyl

vacant in naas is a place i could only refer to as "airsoft mecca"

and on the topic of bang rules, they are the single worst aspect of airsoft!
the way i see it, if you come close enough to someone to offer a bang kill then that person deserves to be shot but at the same time you could dry fire and they could get the drop on you! a bb can miss but a bang kill wont therefor it doesnt even require the slightest bit of skill

In my opinion, whether bang kills are good or bad shouldn't be based off the skill (or lack of) required.

Of the guys I've spoken too, the general consensus isn't "Oh, I could miss/dryfire/etc and get killed so I'll just say bang" but rather a case of respecting the other player's body.

Thinking about it, skill shouldn't come into airsoft at all. Sure, theres no harm in being a great shot or unnervingly good at moving quietly, but we're all out to have fun, right? Who cares if someone can't shoot for ****, if they take their hits, its all good.

So you're going to play a game that involved getting shot and you're concerned about getting shot up close? Deal with it, bro. The bang kill ruins the game, it causes so much hassle and so many fights that any real player will just do a semi-auto tap and you'll move off like nothing happened.

if you're close enough to touch the person, then you use the knife system. Other then that, shoot to kill. It's the game.

In relation to Airsoft, Vacant is incredible. The fact that it caters to nearly every playstyle, and is indoors for the nasty irish weather makes it all the better. Thumbs up from me!

The bag kill rule is pathetic. It shouldnt even be allowed in airsoft.

Im sick of hearing people go on about this "new site" in Tallaght.

No its not new, a snake took it over after Airsoft Reloaded made the place amazing. Now this noob runs it and introduces a pathetic bang kill rule?

I hope your business falls on its face Kev, you dont deserve the office block.

I never said I had a problem with getting shot, I was just pointing out that people I've spoken too use the bang kill method out of respect for their victim rather than cowardice, like the other guy suggested.

Now, this is going well off topic so I won't be posting about bang kills again. I've given my two cents.

It depends on the context. Bang kills in an extreme CQB arena are probably not a good idea. They just end up getting ridiculous.

As for a bang kill being an insult, if they're done properly I'd say the opposite is true.

Case in point, I was in Tigerland the other day, and sitting in position, when a lad slid down a slope behind me, and took up a position. I'd seen he was an enemy while he was moving, but when he took up position, all I could see was the side of his head, and he was maybe 10 feet away. I aimed at him, and offered the bang kill. If he'd pointed his weapon I'd have taken the shot, but there is nothing big or clever about aiming and shooting someone in the face.

If I'd just opened up on him, it probably would have ended up in a shouting match, because it was unnecessary. I don't want someone doing it to me, so I won't do it to them.

As for Vacant being airsoft Mecca, I wonder how many sites the people coming out with this hyperbole have actually played anywhere apart from there and the office block.

Anyway, back to the topic as its running. I've spoken to a few players who've gone to the old block and the new version. It's nowhere near as good. Because you have the contradiction of having bang rules and being allowed to run full auto in confines spaces at the same time. The bang rule is supposed to be for safety and courtesy. The only cbq site worth going to is vacant.

    Done right.
    Organised right.
    Ran right.
    Marshalled right.

    The fire didn't spread enough.

And I've been to oakridge. Kev is a nice guy, but the old site was a pallet hill.

I see your point and agree with you for that specific situation.
Of course shooting someone in the head from 10ft is bollox and shouldnt be done.

But think about the office block and the bang kill rule? Its absolutely retarded. And i think most of the people here have played many sites other than the block and vacant, but were the type of airsofters who like the intensity of cqb rather than outdoor. Its the close quarters that makes it painfull and exciting and for us a bang kill wrecks it.

And apart from that, a lot of us will always slate that snake Kev for trying to take the block away from airsoft reloaded for months before they ended up not running it anymore by choice.

That combined with the crap of "the NEW cqb site"... its not new.
Airsoft reloaded and the amazing players there made the site epic and this snake comes in and acts like he made the site good........ Ugh!!!

If i was in your position, and I am occasionally even in cbq. If I'm behind the Target I do knife kill. Tap on shoulder. If I'm beyond hand range, I aim and hit tacvest. Single shot. If the Target is sneaking up and I can't be seen, say someone hiding in a stack behind a corner, single shot to an exposed fat part, thigh, ass, or a boot if possible.

Then again, I'm a single shot player only.

    And as for sites played....

Block, barn, oakridge, predator, Hrta, maz.

All with their good points, but none are remotely as good as vacant.
