    Hi guys,

    Wondering if anyone could help!

Currently in the process of getting new Sky HD boxes in, going to be next week sometime, just wondering...would it be possible to keep the old standard boxes and use them for the FTA channels?!

If possible was thinking of moving it up to my room. Currently I can get what is being watched on the box I'd be moving(which is in the kitchen) in my room without any magic eye or similar devices, it's split in the attic! Would this need to be amended or would it work first time?!

Sorry if some of that is not clear!

    Thanks!

it will work for free channels,
You need to take a direct feed from the lnb (connection on the satellite dish) to your room.

Suppose there's no chance of getting the lads who are putting in the new boxes to do that?!

Offer them a few bob and they should do it,don't just expect them to do it for free as they have to supply the cable etc. and their time & effort.

Ah yeah wouldn't expect it for free to be fair! Is it only a case of dragging the wire across the attic then?! Just wondering would it not be possible to piggy back on the existing cable?!

As John Mac said run the cables from the lnb. This allows each box to work independently of each other. You said you were getting a few hd boxes. This will means 2 cables to each I presume. Have you a quad or octo lnb.

I wouldn't have a clue to be honest with you!

If you currently have a sky+ box then its a quad lnb, it has four connection points. The new hd box will need two so you have two spare.

So is it a case of taking a cable from one of the spare points on the lnb over to the room?

Yep. You can then view and change the free to air channels.

Alright cool! The cable that is already coming to my room with the Sky channels from downstairs...that's completely separate and couldn't be used then?!

I imagine that cable only allows you to view what is being watched in the kitchen.Would need a magic eye on it to control that box. If you want another box,run the cable to the lnb.
