Does anyone have any experience with this?

    What does treatment usually involve?

Just a quick google... do you suspect one of your dogs of having it?

No I only have 2 boys, neutered ones at that so all ok here. But a family friend has a bitch who had a litter and she's considering trying to find a foster mother for the pups. The bitch, while being treated by the vet seems to be getting worse.

She appears to have a vet who is perfectly happy to call out and treat and support in that way, which is great - but she is unsure of what to do otherwise.

What type of dog is it?

Lab x and they suspect the father is a greyhound, so the size difference isn't huge. She's young though.

This happened due to an unnutered bitch and an ecollar instead of a proper fence. However she's very much loved and will get the best treatment available.

Thanks for the link - loads there.

I had a foster dog that had eclampsia, we were very lucky to have spotted it immediately. We supplemented the pups with puppy replacement milk to try and take some pressure off the mother dog and allow her to recover. 5 of the 7 pups took to the bottle but 2 wouldn't so she was feeding 2 full time and the other 5 were only sucking mainly for comfort. We were offered a bitch who had just lost her pups but the mother was very protective of her pups so we thought it would just be more stressful to bring in another dog. The mammy recovered really well and the pups did great. I kept an eye on the 2 who wouldnt take to the bottle by putting a spot of nail varnish on their heads that wore off by the time that they were ready for new homes.
