Moving from an Irish TV Aerial to Saorview?

    Hi,

I installed an Irish Tv Aerial and I receive RTE1,2, TV3, TG4. If I buy a saorview box will it work with this aerial or will I have to buy a new aerial. Also I have a freeview sat with all the English stations on it. Will I eventually get the Irish stations on this. They are there but no picture.

    Any suggestion would be great.

    Thanks,
    Beng.

You shouldn't need a new aerial. Just plug in the an appropriate box.

Ardmacha is right BenG, you do not need a new aerial, your current one will do perfectly.

If you are getting a good analogue signal now you'll pull in crystal clear pictures on Saorview.

If you are receiving all four through a single aerial then it's a UHF aerial and it's very unlikely that you'll need a new one, the Saorview signal is also UHF.

If you tell us which transmitter you're receiving from we can give you a definitive answer.

No, you'll still need an aerial for the Irish channels. Sky carry them for free on condition that RTE (and TV3) don't give the signal to anyone else to transmit for free so they are not available on Freesat and will not be for the foreseeable future.
