think argentina will win as scotland have done nothing and may suffer like us in 07 having 2 supposed soft games first. they prob run close against england then with england argentina going thru

Argentina by 6, with Contepomi back in their team they're that bit stronger and more balanced, unlike the Scots they're capable of scoring trys.

Game will be tight and lots of tight games are coming down to kicks, I'd give Scotland the edge to be honest.

    Scotland -4 @ 2/1 for me I think.

cant see scotland winning this, there very limited and i dont rate rhuardi jackson who they have at 10. Parks might have been a better pick for this one as i cant see the scots getting much out of a running game here. bye bye scotland i think.

hope the argies win this one although the scotts might bore them to death , dont like the kind of scotts who are into rugby , very dour bunch , the kind who populated the south island of new zealand two hundred years ago which says it all really

    Argentina:
15 Martín Rodríguez, 14 Gonzalo Camacho, 13 Marcelo Bosch, 12 Felipe Contepomi (c), 11 Horacio Agulla, 10 Santiago Fernández, 9 Nicolás Vergallo, 8 Juan Martin Fernandez Lobbe, 7 Juan Manuel Leguizamón, 6 Julio Farias Cabello, 5 Patricio Albacete, 4 Manuel Carizza, 3 Juan Figallo, 2 Mario Ledesma Arocena, 1 Rodrigo Roncero.

Replacements: 16 Agustín Creevy, 17 Martín Scelzo, 18 Mariano Galarza, 19 Genaro Fessia, 20 Alfredo Lalanne, 21 Lucas Gonzalez Amorosino, 22 Juan Jose Imhoff.

    Scotland:
15 Chris Paterson, 14 Max Evans, 13 Nick De Luca, 12 Graeme Morrison, 11 Sean Lamont, 10 Ruaridh Jackson, 9 Rory Lawson (c), 8 Kelly Brown, 7 John Barclay, 6 Al Strokosch, 5 Jim Hamilton, 4 Richie Gray, 3 Geoff Cross, 2 Ross Ford, 1 Allan Jacobsen.

Replacements: 16 Dougie Hall, 17 Alasdair Dickinson, 18 Nathan Hines, 19 Richie Vernon, 20 Mike Blair, 21 Dan Parks, 22 Simon Danielli.

On a Sunday so Euan Murray is unavailable.

I fancy Argentina by a score. As I said on the podcast, I'm convinced it will 9-6, 6-3, 3-0 kind of a scoreline! Hope I'm wrong...

    That's a bit of a harsh generalisation.

This game could be pretty grim

Be amazed if there's more than 6 points in it at the end of the 80.

    No try 12/1.

THis will be a terrifically tough and entertaining game.

I see scotland winning, but by less than ten. The Arg kicking has been abysmal and if they give any loose ball to the Scots they have the talent to run it in.

If Arg can manage to keep it a front five game ... then they may have a chance.

Scotland to win as they will kick their penalties and Argentina won't.

Scotland's kicking has been fairly muck also. Argentina will also have Contepomi back taking the kicks tomorrow for the first time since the opening 20 minutes of the game against England. I don't think Scotland will be able to live with them physically and the penalties will come. It's lashing rain in Wellington today. There's not going to be a lot of back play.

Argentina win for me. I predicted an 8 point win on Sportguru. I think its gonna be a forwards game and think Argentina have massive experience and knowhow in their team to grind out the win. This game suits them more than Scotland I think.

Dr phil hasn't been in top penalty kicking form of late. I'd back Patterson in a kick off I reckon

Scotland beat Argentina twice on a summer tour there in 2010 and are now are unbeaten in their last 5 games including wins over Ireland & Italy. Massive game.

Come on the scots. todays most exciting/tightest game.

I remember going for a half time piss in the last wc in paris when ire where playing the argies. At half time, there was about 12 pissed off irish fans in the queue and one argie fan who whistled irelands call with the smuggest look on his face. I'm sure he'll be found under the floor boards in parc du prince in a couple years time. :pac:

I know the reasons behind it but I laughed at the ITV commentator there:
    "Euan Murray's out. It's a Sunday".

5 minutes in and my neck is sore. It's like watching tennis. Kick, kick, kick.

Argentina don't look too hot so far.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,592 ✭✭✭GerM

This will be a dog fight. Absorbing but there's going to be a lack of quality. Paterson misses his first shot at goal, pushing it to the right. Rain starting to chuck down. Will help my no tries prediction hopefully.

bad effort for the drop goal

    \facepalm for the drop goal.

Argies go through phases under posts and go for drop which is fluffed. They're dying to take 3 points at any opportunity. The try was on there if they went through phases but they're not interested. You know it's bad when Scotland are more interested in attacking than you.

Priestland's miss was a tough one compared to that attempt!

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 23,208 ✭✭✭✭beertons

Under 27.5 points looks like a good bet now.

Barnes needs to stamp his authority on this match. Way too many penalties.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 4,094 ✭✭✭jd007

    Whats with all the booing?

Great chip there. Not sure what Phil was doing running there.

Pathetic from Paterson there, 4 players outside him with the Argentinian defence very narrow. GAA kicks it downfield and the Pumas claim a simple mark.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 23,208 ✭✭✭✭beertons

Great play argentina, winning the ball back. Nervous when they were near their line though/

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,307 ✭✭✭cruiserweight

    Great take by De Luca

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,958 ✭✭✭✭RuggieBear

lobbe off is a huge blow

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Scottish centres are brainless, no creativity at all.

Lobbe off is a massive blow to Argentina.

Great kick from Jackson, 6-3. Almost HT.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,988 ✭✭✭Spudmonkey

    Evans looks lively

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,307 ✭✭✭cruiserweight

Scotland the better team in the first half, but far to many turnovers

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 5,592 ✭✭✭GerM

Don't think Argies can win without Lobbe. He's a massive player for them. Best player on the field.

Game panning out as expected. Absolutely dull with a lot of aggression and little skill.

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 23,208 ✭✭✭✭beertons

Only that fluffed drop goal in it. Why didn't they go for the try:rolleyes:

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,599 ✭✭✭matthew8

Argentina absolutely devastated by injuries but I can't see them losing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,958 ✭✭✭✭RuggieBear

i can drop kick better than that...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 45,433 ✭✭✭✭thomond2006

Argentina's lack of ambition is depressing.

Also if you're gonna forego a try scoring opportunity for a 3 pointer, for jebus sake you gotta kick it.
