I do. Because I do not want to be disturbed during my OWN time. If someone wants to talk to me - go f*** off and wait until Monday.

Btw, I never answer the door after I was attacked by a stranger at my door step ten years ago.

    Mo-bile. It's called a mobile heeee-or boss.

I leave mine on in case of an emergency. Because you know I'd like to be there for family\friends.

Would you not just get a work and private mobile? Work one off on friday 5 pm and use your private one during weekend?...
Is it what everyone is doing?

    cellphone

    :D

No, mine is always on and within reaching distance. I've become terribly reliant on technology :(

I cannot afford a second phone. It is not my fault so why I should buy a second phone?

Why bother having a mobile phone if it's switched off, work phone yes turn it off.

Then stop using your private phone for work, I refuse to give out my private number for anything work related. And if any collegues call me on my private number during work about work, I do not answer. If I need to make a work related call during work hours I wait untill I get into the office to do so.

I would ask your employer if he wants to provide you with a corporate phone, if you are expected to work on the go or out of the office they should provide you with a phone to do so and not expect you to use your own one!

Can you not put the phone into Airplane mode? Turns off phone function but leaves things like music/games/wifi still available?

Isn't it up to the prison warden to switch it off, along with the Playstation, DVD player, plasma TV.........

why would you switch your phone off at the weekend? how would you know where your mates are going for pints? or where your missus wants to meet you? or millions of other fun things that you would miss out on

Mine only gets turned off at night twice a year. Myself and some colleagues from thr UK play phone tag when on company nights out. The drunker you are, and the later you make the call the better it is.

Tonight is one of those nights. Which means, that despite the reminder to turn it off, i'll forget to and be woken at about 3 or 4 by a bunch of drunken English and Irish people shouting at me, and giving out for me not being with them.... despite me not working in their company.

Or else I'll remember and there will be an abusive voice mail in the morning!

I don't meet friends during weekend. I don't have a missus. I don't have a million fun things to do during weekend.

No, how will people be able to get a hold of me if I turn my phone off?
Are you now referring to some work "cellphone"?

Leave your phone switched and friends might ask you out.
you might as least get a wrong number, strike up a conversation.
Live dangerously for once and leave it on this weekend.
