We've had the dog around a year now. We love him to bits but we've to put him down this weekend.

We've tried to sell the dog but we're told he's too expensive.

Bringing him to the vets on Saturday =(

    Ok what? WHAT?

Is the dog sick? You have him a year? Hopefully you mean that you found him wandering the streets looking for somewhere to celebrate his 15th birthday...

What do you mean too expensive?

    Drop the price.

If he's young and healthy I would implore you to take him to a rescue to be rehomed!

You are putting a dog down because you can't sell him!? wtf?

WHy are you selling him, and if he is too expensive just give him to Dogs Trust or something. Jesus.

sorry i left out some details

we're moving house and can only afford one that doesn't allow pets =(

Sure wait for a different house. You'll get one at the right price.

And give the dog away if you can't sell it. If you love the damn thing you'll surely lose out on a few quid instead of putting it down!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 34,809 ✭✭✭✭smash

You couldn't be arsed any more, can't sell him, so you're going to put him down...

Nice, the world needs more people like you!

    Feel your pain OP.

Had my dog since he was born until the age of 12 and I had to put him down 2 months ago. One of the toughest things I've ever had to do.

EDIT: Wtf? Your putting him down because he's too expensive...???!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski

Put him down because you can't sell him!?

    You better be trolling.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,915 ✭✭✭MungBean

Love him to bits. Cant sell him.

Logical conclusion = kill him ?

Why get him in the first place if you were unable to look after him ?

So you are going to kill the dog because you won't get top-notch price for him.

    That is sick.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,752 ✭✭✭cyrusdvirus

What breed of dog is he OP? Is he ill? How much are the 'vet' charging to have a healthy animal PTS?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 6,911 ✭✭✭Zombienosh

maybe hes addicted to a really expensive lifestyle and no one wants him

Ah yes, those details make all the difference.

You are not right in the head. Either:
    a. Give the dog away to someone who will look after him, for free

    or

    b. Give him to Dogs Trust or another rehoming centre.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,463 ✭✭✭loveisdivine

To be honest, most vets wont just put a healthy young dog to sleep because the owner wants them too.

    Troll!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,303 ✭✭✭Temptamperu

Cant you give it away to someone who will love it?

This has to be a troll thread otherwise you are the most dispicable human being ive ever come across.

well you decided to get a dog so you really cant decide to kill him just because its inconvenience to have him now! your as bad as them people how get pets at xmas then decide to abandon them becuase they are too much hassle!!

A genuine poster would be taking his dog to the local animal welfare shelter, where it stands a good chance of getting a new home. Only a fool would fork out hard-earned cash for a vet to kill it.

You have to be a troll, because otherwise I wouldn't be able to bring myself to tell someone that they're a despicable, horrible excuse of a human being who deserves horrible things for putting down a healthy dog instead of taking them to a shelter.

I could never tell someone that.

What is it with you and these trolling posts about money and a moral dilema

This thread is so similar to one last month which got locked anyway
I loaned 500 quid off my Mam last October and she said I could take my time paying her back. I've paid her in bits and pieces, 20quid here and there. Fine.

This week she's on my back about finishing the payments after I booked a holiday in Spain. Now forgive me if I'm wrong, but she said I could take my time.

I've bought her birthday presents and christmas presents etc. but I've not included them in paying her back. An obvious thing to do but worth keeping in mind.

Anyway, we've fallen out over money which I never wanted to happen. Should I cancel my holiday and give her all that money and end up having a crap year with no holiday? I think she's being completely unreasonable about this.

Trolls in After Hours used to be difficult to detect, we expect a better standard around here

If you are not trolling, then you are clearly missing something upstairs if you think killing the dog is better than rehoming it. So I just hope you have the brain capacity to at least click the above link and contact them - they will take the dog off you and find someone who is willing to look after it, and guess what - it won't cost you, so recession is no excuse, if it ever was.

FFS - Why d you need to make a quick buck off the dog? GIVE HIM AWAY FOR FREE

I am sorry but I dont believe you.

Why would you pay to have a dog put to sleep when you can take him to a shelter or the dogs trust for free or a small donation, ya know if you're so hard up and all??

If you are at all serious that you are a poor excuse for a human being.

Ya know this planet is way over populated, we cant afford all these humans running around, lets just have them all killed

You are moving to a new house which can't accommodate your Dog, you won't send him to a sheltered home, and you can't sell him, so instead of all the logical options you're having him killed instead "this Saturday"!!!

You are either Trolloing or you need help Mate.

What the Fu**, people like you are idiots.

Sooo bloody annoying to hear things like this^

    I think you are TROLLING
