Does anyone have any new/updated information on the development plan to upgrade the outside units of city square shopping centre? Has the development being approved or is it still being assessed? Is it true h&m is going to be the anchor tenant? Although i suppose knowbody will actually know until the sign is above the door!

Also any word on the ferrybank shopping centre? Are they meant to be opening it the end of the year?

The city square redevelopment has been approved in spite of Brendan McCann's usual objection.

Well now that would be a bit of good news! :D

I just hope they have a men's section. Some of the shops in Dublin (Blanch I think?) don't

There's the granted planning permission, obviously doesn't mention what stores will be there but that is the development information.

He didn't object to the building, just to the lack of an archaeological investigation in an area that churned up loads of stuff before.

Here is a thread on it.

I heard H&M wanted to locate a unit in Waterford and were looking at that potential city square extension/brassiere. I also read in a business section recently that Zara want to expand in Ireland. pity we have nowhere suitable for these shops to move straight into.
Im surprised no constrution has started there, would be great if we had a few developments with retail in city centre, stop locals going elsewhere etc

That's the bloody problem with the KRM development not going ahead - there are few high-quality retail units of the required size in the city centre, so many of these shops just can't open here!
