Im considering getting rid of it,i never answer it most calls are just pointless conversations.Numbers i need to know are stored in my head.
Im in work eight hours a day most know my work number,im online 8+hours a day nearly everyone is on fb.So between having a fb account i spend all day at,a house phone a work phone and the mobile im pretty much always contactable which is irritating.
May take the dads advice and do away with it.

Are there many of yee out there freshly phoneless ??

First people weren't answering the phone, then the door, now they're getting rid of the phones. Presumably you'll be getting rid of the door next.

    but..but...uh... there'd be no youporn???????

this thinking could end up causing huge job losses in the adult movie industry.

won't someone please think of the pornstars?????

    Don't panic, I'm on it.

Couldn't you just switch it off? That's what I do when I don't want to be contacted. Then you'd still have it for emergencies.

I'd never get rid of my mobile phone.
Maybe if the OP had one of these, he wouldn't get rid of it either

    Here's a pic of it...

Lost my mobile & went 3 months without it about 7 yrs ago I was quite happy about not being contactable but I had no landline or tinterweb either (except in work) so people got quite p****d off including wifey to be with me so alas I now am mobiled again

Having decided that I don't really need to know at 3 a.m that BlahBlah has responded to a thread on Boards.ie or that supervalu have pork chops for 3 euro I'm getting rid of the Blackberry and bill pay and taking back the old only makes phonecalls and texts phone I gave my granddaughter to play with and switching to pay as you go. I won't be 'going' that often...

unfortunately i can't sneak my 32 inch monitor into the toilet at work, or at home without the wife seeing when i'm just in the mood for a quick shandy.

sheesh, if you don't want to be contactable just turn the thing off! Mobiles are really handy a lot of the time and I'm sick of people harping on about how they hate theirs...
It's only as intrusive as you let it be...

Dont drive, and if i was going to be in an isolated are i would plan ahead.Family emergency no im contactable by landline most of the day so i will find out the horror soon enough.
Get locked out of the house,i either break in the rear over the back wall or knock over to my crazy neighbours which are always happy to see me.

So you are out somewhere and a family member or friend is in an accident and are critical with not much hope of surviving, you'd rather wait until you got back to beside a landline

My phone spends the majority of its time on flight mode. People should only contact me in case of emergency like going to the pub and stuff. If a family member is on deaths door, i wouldnt deem it an emergency as im not a doctor.

Keep the phone, get rid of facebook, that way when you're interacting with people they at least hear your voice and you get all that time back instead of spending all day in front of your account.
