Screen Lock Button Broken

The screen lock button on the top of my iPhone is not working at all. It's like it's been fully depressed and won't pop back out.
I've tried blowing it with compressed air in case there is something stuck in the button, but no joy.

Any ideas of a handy fix? Or is it a bring back to the shop job?

Ye it sounds like the button needs to be replaced.it's not a big job. So don't get ripped off. Where are you based?
    Check out Fixmyiphoneireland on facebook
I'm based near Waterford. I went into a repair shop in the city, and he said it'd be 35-40 quid to get fixed.
I didn't get a chance to check out the facebook site yet.

Im starting to have a similar problem with the round screen button on the front of my iPhone 4.. . It's getting really stiff to the point where now I have to press on it really hard several times to get it to respond. . Anyone know if it's fixable?

You could buy a new lock/power button on eBay and replace it yourself

    http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/Installing-iPhone-4-Power-Lock-Button/4332/1#.T9cjAhfWbdQ

Its not that hard if you follow the manual and take your time.

    Il look into that, cheers!

had the same issue with my ip4 and was able to get it working temp by pressing the front and back casing just under the power button together and then pressing the button. not ideal but it worked for me :)

Not so much a fix for this but more of a work-around, if the device is jailbroken you could use the app activator to assign a swipe on the screen to do the same thing as pressing the home or lock button

Remove the 2 screws on the bottom of the IP4. Slide the back upwards to release. Apply pressure directly on the rear of the button. Literally a 60 second job. Worked for me. No issues since & has helped others.

That said, it is a common problem and if still in warranty, Apple will replace it without any hassle.
