Just bought a new 32 inch LG LED tv from Currys. Plugged old aerial from bedroom tv in and set up digital tv. At the moment I am only receieving what I believe to be a test channel ''RTE NL''. Also Rte News of some sort showing euronews but not in apparent HD quality. Is there any reason why I am seeing a coloured screen for other channels? I live in dublin 15 any help greatly appreciated.

You appear to be receiving a group of RTÉNL test channels only and not the 8 regular Saorview TV channels.

The 8 TV and 10 radio channels are carried on a UHF frequency channel called Multiplex (Mux) 1 while the test channels you're receiving are carried on Mux 2.

The Mux 2 signal appears to be stronger than the Mux 1 signal where the aerial is located. You could try moving the aerial around and rescanning the frequencies again (in the 50's for the 3 Rock transmitter). Moving the aerial to a south/south east facing window might help.

Indoor/set top aerials work best in strong signal areas but can be subject to local interference. Attic or external aerial would be a better solution.
