PS3 Save files problem

I have some old save files for God of War 3 still on my system but when I load up the game and go to load up a save there are none visible.

When I back out of the game and go to the memory portion of the dashboard to view my save files they're all there. Any reason you can think of as to why the game doesn't have my saves available for me to play?

I have a platinum trophy on the game and have beaten all challenges and unlocked the arena!!??

This is probably an easy fix but I'm stumped! Don't use the PS3 much :)

Are you sure your looking at the saves and not the game data

Yes, positive. I'm starting to think it is to do with the product code on the game.

When you go into the PS store to purchase extra costumes for Kratos there are two versions of each costume pack with different product codes. Naturally you have to choose the version of the costume pack that corresponds with your version of GOW3.

I bought a PS3 with GOW3 on the release day of the game. Purchased it in GAME Dundrum. The copy of the game I'm playing now is a secondhand copy I bought in GAME on the weekend. It is region 2 (Europe). I can only assume that the original version I bought on the release day would have been region 2 also!!! Maybe it was a Region 0 or something, I have no way of knowing.

The different region discs might cause it, but if there the same region it would be fine. I assume you got your console in ireland, well you know the game will be region 2 then. Check the case of your current game to find out the region.

Yes, the current game is Region 2.

Yes, the console and original copy of GOW3 were also purchased in Ireland.

I presume brand new games in Irish shops are all region 2 so I don't know why I'm getting this problem. Very annoying to say the least.

this mightnt make a difference but did you install the 1.03 patch, try deleting the game data ( not the saves )

Yeah, I tried that already to no avail.

Have you tried loading up other GOW saves?
Does your PS3 load up other saves for different games?
    Try this:
Copy your saved file onto a USB, then delete the one on the ps3
Now move the new file back onto the ps3 from your USB

You have nothing to lose so you might as well try the above method

The problem is, I only have GOW3 lol... I had Heavy Rain and Uncharted 1 and 2 at one stage and still have save games for them. I might rent them and see what happens. Does the USB drive need to be formatted for the ps3 like when you need to format a USB drive for the 360?

yes the drive needs to be formatted so the console will place the system files into it,

Thanks Tony, I'll try that later today!

did you get this sorted ?

Hey Tony, tried the usb stick method. It didn't work. Brought the game back into GAME today and swapped the disc I had for a disc with a different product code. The one I had bought last week was a Region 2 UK version with the code BCES 00779. The replacement disc has the code BCES 00510 which is the Region 2 Irish version. Wasn't aware something like this could happen. If it had of been a region 1 game I could understand it but the fact that it was region 2 has me baffled. I wonder is it the same with all their games? I'll be more careful in future when buying preowned games.

So the old saves work now :-)
