    My unit is looking to go on a train tour around Europe next summer. As we all know the recession has hit scouting hard in terms of trips. I was wondering if anyone had any ideas about how we might raise some funds?

    Try to get some local businesses to sponsor it.
    Run a fundraiser or two: table quiz, etc
    Bag packing in a local supermarket.

    There's many ways to raise money. Get a committee together of parents, leaders, scouts and get cracking.

    OP there are great resources on scouts.ie
    Aside from that, we ran a 'duck-race' during the summer and raised somewhere around €1500 for a relatively small amount of work.
