ITunes iphone back up missing

    I had a friends iphone 4 backed up on my mac from around April. His sleep button went on his iphone , so he was up in Belfast today and went in to the apple store and got a brand new one he asked the genius in store could he use an i mac etc to back up his phone and was told no! it should of been done before he went into the store,

    anyway he arrived at my house hoping I have some sort of back up but when i went to iTunes restore from back up off his iphone is not on the list:confused: but it definitely backed up several months ago.Does anyone know how to solve this or is my mate screwed?

    long shot I know but his laptop was stolen and cannot access his back up.

    do you mean that he had the old iPhone on him and he wanted to see if they could do a backup from the old iPhone and a restore to the new iPhone instore? If this is the case, can't you do this for him on your PC or did he have to surrender the old iPhone under the insurance or for some other reason?

    When you open iTunes on your PC, click on Edit/Preferences and click on the 'Devices' tab, it lists the backups that are stored on your PC and the date of each backup. Can you see his old iPhone listed? Hover the mouse pointer over the listed devices and the serial number will popup.

    If the old iPhone is listed, read this article....
