Buying key without immobilizer?

    Hey there gang,

So, I'm currently driving a VW Polo with one key.

And this could be a silly question - but rather than paying well over €100 for a key with the immobilizer programmed, can I have a key cut solely to open the door (and not start the engine)?

The reason I ask is I've no remote locking or anything like that in the car, and during last Winter, I used to go out and switch on the ignition and air conditioning to let the car warm up.

So I'd no option but to leave my only key in the ignition with the door unlocked.. hence the problem!

If I had a spare key to simply lock the door when my primary key was in the ignition, I'd be sorted (i.e toasty and warm this Summer without the ongoing dread of "d'ya think the car's still there?" :D
