What kind of business, will you have stock or just something simple, if it's simple you could set up a template in excel and use that?

hi thanks for your reply. i forgot to say i will have stock and a basic stock system would be a great bonus. i would like to have a program to keep track of invoices accounts etc. nothing major just needs to do the basics well.

    thanks

I'm using Freshbooks Everything is online so can login anywhere & do invoicing etc. Free to use for up to three clients, doesproduct & time based invoicing. Creates reports/pdf/export to excel invoices etc.

Email direct from the interface to your clients & they can pay by CC, transfer, paypal, & invoice is marked as paid (you're notified). Gives you a weekly report of paid Vs unpaid, If they pay by cash, they can print off a remittance Hard to find better for startup

It works out less expensive than a package. Also works on PC because it's cloud based

You might also want to look at Billings at www.billingsapp.com. I think there's also MYOB at www.myob.com and a bunch of others.

you could take a look at Sage One - you can sign up for a free 30 day trial at www.sageone.ie. It is an online package that will work on most internet browsers so it will be compatible with your Mac. It will alow you to create an invoice which you can either print and post to your customer or email to your customer.

I am connected to the company, please PM me if I can be of any assistance.

Does this solution meet the data protection laws? where is your data stored? who has access to it? and so on....

Theyre based in the US, so I'm guessing that's where the data is stored. Afaik it complies with military grade security.

Obviously you should do your own research to satisfy yourself. I'm satisfied, but your requirementsay be different.

I pulled down a couple of iPhone apps last night for time recording, expense recording, contract signing & sending (very handy & user friendly), etc, they work great. There's also one for those who may employ contractors to assign jobs to etc, not suitable for me, but may be for others, do a search in the app store for freshbooks to see compatible third party apps.

You do realize that under the DPA, you are required to keep most business data in an EU country or Switzerland and that at the moment the USA is specifically ruled out, right???

All it takes is one complaint for an unhappy customer or employee and you are in trouble...

The USA may eventually be recognized once congress accepts the EU requirements, but with the Republicans in charge that is not about to happen any day soon!

Well I hope it wouldn't be an issue, I don't suspect it will for my business.

Unfortunately, I haven't come across a European solution that offers the same in such a slick & tailorable manner.

It would be great if there was an Irish based solution as I'd be happy to use it.

Right now I've got freshbooks, mailchimp, ripe & sky clerk all working together just the way I want them to & don't see myself changing

I'm not really surprised because most of these solutions fail to meet European data protection requirements for a start.

And regardless of the business size, the fact that you do not have full control over your data is a concern for most business owners. It is also an embarrassment if it gets abused.

Well I still wouldn't have full control if using a European solution as its cloud storage.

There are a number of deletion methods which are almost instant.
