reducer from 24v to 12v

    Radio gone on my 7 1/2 ton daewoo tipper,friend says that the reducer is blown,propably when i was feckin around with the altenator,anybody know where this reducer would be positioned so i could replace it or is there a 24v radio i can get as everthing else seems to be 24v?

    Its more than likely beside or underneath the fuse box.

    As far as i know radios are 12volt. You might be able to get 24volt ones but they would be difficult to find and most likely more expensive, probably have their own small 24v to 12 v transformer.

    I take it your 24volt system has two batterys joined together. Just run the power cables directly to one battery and put an inline fuse on the positive beside the battery.

    Thanks for the reply guys,was thinking as much about the 24v radios,will give my man your suggestions,guess if he cant find the reducer under the fuses he might have to go back to the battery.

    Running accessories off one battery is not a good idea, messes up the charge in the long run, radio may be OK but don't make a habit of it!

    Best bet is 24-12V dropper, easy to obtain from ebay, commercial motor factors etc.
