    This should be interesting

The Muppets come to Raw on Halloween night
    September 19, 2011

To celebrate their first theatrical release in more than a decade – Disney’s "The Muppets," opening this Thanksgiving – the Muppets will step into the ring on the Oct. 31 WWE Raw SuperShow to mix it up with the Superstars in Atlanta.

In the new film, "The Muppets," the crew is on a mission to save the Muppet Theater from demolition. But before that, they'll have to save themselves from our Superstars!

What will happen when Kermit the Frog meets The Viper? Will the Divas make Miss Piggy flip with jealousy? Will Beaker be confused for Sheamus? On Halloween, it's time to play the music, it's time to light the lights, because the Muppets are about to get Raw!

Agreed, probably one of my favorite childhood acts.:o

I actually think this could be great fun really, they really better not mess this up!

i;m quite excited to see how they do this.the new muppet movie looks good and this tie in should work brilliant, i can see truth and miz creating some comedy gold

That will quite possibly be the best Raw ever.

For the 1st time ever i'm looking forward to guest hosts. I hope someone chases Kermit. Sadly I can see someone in the "creative" team thinking of a Vickie & Ms.Piggy storyline. I hope the two old guys are there Statler & Waldorf they'd be epic burying a pointless divas match oh & Rizzo too.
I write this as a 22 year old man excited about the muppets.

WWE needs some Muppets after losing the Hardy's.

In fairness they already have some, they're called writers

My thoughts in 2009 from when the Muppets were suggested for guest host in Another Forum:
    That... could actually work.

Mostly backstage segments, Kermit occasionally appearing on stage as compère with a big 'desk', cut to Statler and Waldorf in the stands and Sweetums can actually have a match...

Course with the movie, it'd be relevant now. ;)

Jeff looks more like a glow in the dark Fraggle than a Muppet tbh.

The muppets are awesome! My hopes are sky high! (always a bad thing....) it's a pity WWE can't book for shít these days. Written right this could be the most entertaining RAW in years. Think of the promos between various WWE personalities and muppets  :pac:

-- Waldorf and Statler making jokes post-match or doing commentary. Would be AMAZING. Miss Piggy giving Vickie Guerrero shít for eyeing up Kermit (i can't think of a charismatic face diva? - would work better with a gorgeous diva)..... Beaker (for example) having a back and forth with Miz or Punk.....could be hilarious.

If anything this'll really drum up interest in WWE. I'm already sold to see if they can reach 1/4 of my hopes!

The show better end with Road Warrior Animal saying "Gooooooo Bye Bye!"

Also, the two grumpy old men better be in the audience.

Santino is obviously getting a Hiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii-ya! chop from Miss Piggy too.

This could be the best RAW ever :D

EDIT: Oh man The Count has to be used for a slow count pin: "ONE ah ah ah, TWO...."

  • Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 42,788 Mod ✭✭✭✭Lord TSC

Oh man, I laughed at the thought of the Count. He can screw Miz and Truth over with a slow pin XD

I think this probably could do with its own topic at this stage. And whats the betting WWE screws this up by having one segment with Kermit only and thats it :(

The Rock could also be at this show
building up his SS tag match

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,101 ✭✭✭MitchKoobski

    Best case scenario?

Kermit runs the show as a guest host, we see him backstage organising matches with all the muppets, Statler and Waldorf run commentary with King , JR and Cole.

sounds more like desperation, having to get on "special guests" who are there for no other reason than to flog their movie

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,391 ✭✭✭D2D

I'd like to point out my earlier comment was about the guest host thing returning NOT about the Muppets hosting Raw

yeah but...its The Muppets. and most of the guest hosts are there to flog something anyway

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 16,096 ✭✭✭✭the groutch

if the wrestling was good enough, they wouldnt need guest hosts, there is only about 6 or 7 wrestlers on RAW, and about 4 or 5 on Smackdown that are ever worth watching

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 14,670 ✭✭✭✭Wolfe Tone

Im gonna watch this to see the muppets! That sounds class, hope they commentate on a match

I want to see a skit involving Kermit giving David Otunga some tips on his personality, or perhaps Miss Piggy hitting on Dolph.

This show is either going to be very funny or cringeworthy awfulness.

Why is everyone marking out for The Muppets? Admittedly I've never watched it, but it's a pre-school kids TV show right?

Rodge and Podge would be class though!! Wouldn't be PG enough for WWE, but i'd say they would have some hilarious back-stage segments :pac:

Muppets were funnier and better written.

    Best Christmas Film ever!

Well, third best after Scrooged and Die Hard (Yes, Die Hard is a Christmas film)

definitely a nostalgia-based thing. But the characters were great and the stories were simple and fun. Kind of like wrestling in the 80s!

plus the idea of a human arguing with a puppet is always great for a laugh :pac:

Podge & Rodge would be hilarious but they'd be lost on almost everyone in the world. It'd have to be a taped show with their mouths!!

I gotta say, I'm looking forward to this. They should put Punk, Statler and Waldorf on commentary and have them sit there making smarky comments all night.

Someone missed the Katy Perry contravesry then :P

I don't watch it, outside of clips every now and again when they get good guests on. It strikes me it's one of those kids shows that sneaks in jokes and such for adults every now and again.

And Rovert I will check out a few clips from that Christmas Carol film, heck we're only 3 months away from Xmas now anyway.

I did find this awesome picture though -

Sesame Street is pre-school, Muppets are family entertainment. Though I wouldn't mind seeing Elmo on Raw. ;)

Hope the performers are on the ball. The promotion for the movie has been well done and looks to be a serious effort to get the franchise up and running again. The Muppets never really went away, the company just started putting out junk.

The live crowd should be interesting. :p

Due to the clocks going back, it's a 1am start
The Rock is ready to "Just Bring It" – his response, that is – to WWE Raw SuperShow!

As Michael Cole stated on Friday Night SmackDown, The Rock is expected to answer John Cena's request to be his tag team partner against The "Awesome Truth" at Survivor Series this Monday night in Atlanta – the same city where Rock and Cena made history agreeing to face each other in Miami at WrestleMania XXVIII.

Will The Great One be amicable to teaming with his WrestleMania opponent just months away from the biggest main event in WWE history? Or will Rock tell Cena to find someone else to partner with against the poisonous pairing of The Miz & R-Truth at Madison Square Garden? And what would Cena's next option be if he faces rejection from The Rock?

Find out the answers to this and more on what will surely be an electrifying night in Atlanta LIVE Monday night at 9/8 CT on USA Network!

gonna spoiler tag this as there's no spoilers in the thread title
Dwayne Johnson's response to John Cena asking him to team with Cena at Survivor Series will open Raw.
WWE will be going heavy on the Halloween theme tomorrow, including a Divas costume contest that is in the current draft of the show.

Three Muppet Performers that I know of are scheduled for Raw - Steve Whitmire, Eric Jacobson and Bill Barretta, as well as some right hands (performers who operate the other arm of the Muppet while the primary performer manipulates their voice and left arm). That would mean that pretty much all the major Muppet characters except Gonzo would be available for WWE to use. I haven't heard if Dave Goelz, who portrays Gonzo was booked or not.

One segment that The Muppet performers were asked to prepare for involved Stadler and Waldforf doing commentary for a match, which I can only assume would be the Michael Cole vs. Jim Ross segment.
