i bought an ipod about 2 years ago. pwo since. however it died yeaterday when i was skipping a few songs.
It's definitely not the power cos i've it plugged in for a few hours.
any ideas is there a re-set button or a warranty i could use?

There are many iPod models, which one is yours?

Most of them do have a reboot function. AFAIK they are covered by a 12 month warranty.

it sounds like you're getting no activity at all and realistically there's not a whole lot you can do if it's not being detected by your computer?

Found these instructions for doing a reset.:
press and hold the menu and the select button at the same time for about 6-10 seconds (until the iPod restarts)

It might just be there is a problem with the cable that stops it charging and it just ran out of power. It would be worth trying another cable.
