We are having problems getting a Solemniser but we have a family member who is a priest.

If this was agreeable to the priest, would he legally be able to act a Solemniser in a non-religious services in a pub?

Is the pub on the list of allowed venues in Ireland?

    Yes, it is

I'm surprised that it is, as there's no drink allowed an hour before and an hour after a civil ceremony. However, if it's a priest doing the ceremony, then I think the HSE rules do not apply to them.

Completely off topic but they have a function room where they perform weddings and they even have a wedding co-ordinator *shock horror*, which makes it no different to getting married in a hotel with a bar rolleyes.gif

Anyway back on topic, does anyone know if a priest can act as a Solomistor outside a church?

I remember someone saying that a bishop was marrying them, and it wasn't on the grounds of a church, have a look at the forums on weddingsonline.ie there may be more people that can answer your question.
