Getting rid of an old bike

I have a bike in my shed that I dragged out a river a while back.
I had great intentions of fixing it up, but it hasn't happened, and now I'm moving house so I need to dispose of it.
I'm not even sure that it is worth fixing - it was in the river for a while, and the gears need replacing.

So where should I bring an old bike to die.
    Galway City area.
    Thanks

If you were in Dublin the obvious place would be rothor but your not, there is a charity I think its Barnardos (may not be spelled right) that collect bikes to be recycled and sold on,maybe a quick google search would help find out.

If it's spent much time underwater it's probably only good for the dump, unfortunately.

One of my inlaws did build a bike from parts retrieved from the Liffey when he was a kid in the sixties, but I've no idea what the end result was like. I suspect it only just about worked.

You could find a few more and make some nice lawn furniture.
