Hi, I've been sent over to this forum, which I didn't even know existed!

I'm looking to buy Leaf Green + Fire Red (And maybe some of the others I never got round to buying all those years ago) in Dublin, but don't want any knock-offs.

I have contacted R.A.G.E in Dublin to see if they have them in stock but waiting for them to reply. Really not able to pay up to £70 on Amazon or anything.

For buying and selling please use adverts.ie. Stick an ad up there and see if anyone has a copy for sale.

If buying online, just be wary of the huge amount of fake GBA carts out there. Fake carts can work fine in isolation but the batteries can run dry very quickly (you lose your save-game) and they're not compatible with other carts for trading or exporting - for example, using the Pal Park in Diamond/Pearl with a fake cart will wipe the fake cart's save.

A quick bit of googling will get you the info you need on any given cart, but make sure there are plenty of pictures available and look for the following :
The GBA carts are usually the same colour as the game name (ie Red for Ruby, Green for EmeralD). Grey cart? Outlook is gloomy.
The screw in the back will have 3 slots in a triangular formation, not a + or - head.
Nintendo is embossed on the back of the cart. If there's a quality control sticker over the Nintendo logo that's usually because it's obscuring the "Nintondo" logo or some other fakery.
If you look into the connector, you should see Nintendo printed on the circuit board
Fire Red and Leaf Green were widely available with the GBA Wireless link add-on. If they're selling with the add on, they've a better chance of being legit
If it's shipping from China… at the risk of making sweeping borderline-racist generalisations, avoid.
Shipping in (what looks) the original box does not in any way increase your chances of getting the real deal.

Yea beware bro I've had terrible luck with dodgy carts off of the ebay and the like.
I finally get my hands on a legit copy of emerald(seismic toss chansey!) and my DS Lite's fuse is gone so I go get a DSi off a friend for €50 only to discover it doesn't have a GBA port :D

    Oh, and WELCOME!!!!!!!!

Just to say, I had to go through TWO fake copies of FireRed before I found a real one. I bought FireRed and Ruby on adverts.ie and they were perfect.

I think adverts is your best bet, as Irish people would be more likely to have a real copy sitting in a box/drawer somewhere. Anything from abroad I'd be wary of.

Man two Ruby AND two Emerald internetz is a dodgy place!

I persuaded one of my mates to buy White so he got a loan of his sisters old DS Phat but I haven't played it yet, the DS Phat is sorta putting my off tbh, a bit smugleaf of me I know but after playing on my beloved DS lite and now a DSi, DS Phat just seems horrible!!:p

But I do really want Seismic Toss Chansey...

    Thanks for all the help!

I'm even more interested in getting them now as it's not possible to trade forward from the original red and blue as well as gold/silver/diamond (which are also losing their ability to save as their clock battery's are running out) from what I understand so gen III seems to be my place to start :D

Hopefully I'll get them somewhere....I'm just keeping fingers crossed that I don't get stuck with fakes *crosses fingers*
