    Hey Mezamo

I couldn't follow the link but as it appears airsoft related I moved it to here.

Airsoft mods if this is a no no then feel free to bounce it back.

    Thanks,
    Veg.

You would need shotgun blanks, which, if even legal in Ireland, you would need a shotgun license at least.

I wouldn't play if I knew these were in use.

Yea sorry for the 2 http's. I have a gun so getting the blanks is no problem. I just wanted to know what the legal standpoint is on them.

The firearms license that allows you to own a shotgun has some fine print which stipulates where/when/how you can use the specified firearm & corresponding ammunition. I'm pretty sure it doesn't include firing blank cartridges outside the firearm you are licensed to own/use, and there's no way any responsible site owner would let you on their site with such a device.

In my view this would be illegal. If you want to set up a trip mine use a claymore, thunder-b or other airsoft-specific device

Sorry lads, I dont intend using these in an airsoft game. This thread was moved from the shooting forum where it was intended. I was looking into these to deter poachers.

I looked into this about 5 years ago and was told categorically that they were illegal. Blanks qualified as explosive devices when used in a mine.
I know the gun laws changed recently so things might be different now.

You should consider what would happen if one malfunctioned and injured the poacher.

Would say you could look into alternatives such as a mine that makes the sound through a speaker or some other method.

This is true, and something to consider alright, I think I will have to look into something else. Thanks for the advice guys, much appreciated :)
