St. John Ambulance, a registered charity, is currently looking for people to join our ranks. All our members are unpaid volunteers, and are dedicated to a simple vision; that everyone, no matter where they are or what they are doing at the onset of injury or illness, should have access to first aid.

For example, this weekend, we had unpaid volunteers at:
    • Dublin Half Marathon in Phoenix Park
    • All Ireland Football Final in Croke Park
    • Transfer of patients from St. Patrick's Hospice in Cork to their new facility.
    • GAA/Rugby/Soccer matches around Ireland.
    • Community Events.
Please join us for an information meeting at our headquarters of Lumsden House, 29 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin at 8pm to learn more about who we are and what we do.

To learn more about the recruitment meeting:

Alternatively, contact our recruitment team through our website.

If you are not interested yourself, but know someone who might be, please tell them we are actively looking for volunteers of all ages. No previous knowledge is required. And joining a voluntary organisation is often the first step to a lifelong career in pre-hospital care.

    Kind regards,
    Pat Rushe
    Recruitment Working Group
St. John Ambulance Brigade of Ireland.

Go for it folks. Its the best course I ever did. Dont have the time anymore due to being self employed, but it really was a fantastic experience.

One day, outside my job, a girl choked on a marshmallow and collapsed, I was able to help her and she is around today.

Well worth it ! (not to mention being on the pitch at Croker, Aviva, etc etc) HAHA

didnt think the Johnnies did the pitch at Croker or Aviva anymore.

Agree with you though everyone should learn basic skills even if it's compression only CPR

Just checked with one of my mates still there, and they do still do Croker and the Aviva.

    When I was still in it, among the duties I did were;

    Backstage a Bon Jovi,
    Frontstage at Bon Jovi,
    Same again at U2
    Same again at the Beegees
    Same again at Bryan Adams
    Same again at Tom Jones

    And others I cannot remember.

On the pitch at Landsdowne Rd, Croker, Anfield and Goodison (shhh dont tell anyone about the last two;) )

The Gaiety theatre every Tuesday for two months.

    Dublin Zoo.

A rave in an old school in Wexford.

I also did transports from Dublin Airport, and even took a lady home on her last journey, from a hospice in Dublin to Wexford.

I tended a couple of lads in a car crash in the Mersey Tunnel, Liverpool.

I could go on and on, but would only bore you.

It was so satisfying you would not believe. Now I work all the time and had to give it up..

I would really love to get back to the Brigade, you never know when you need first aid !!

SJA doesn't cover pitch side in Aviva, but does in Croke Park and RDS (Leinster Rugby).

Even if you never got pitch side at a these venues, isn't it worth it knowing that you can be the difference between a life lost and a life saved.

Superscouse, I wouldn't brag too much about being on duty at the skip Goodison :D:D:D

Ah cool I always thought it was Event Medics who looked after the pitch at Croker.
