Always a busy start with enthusiastic kids who generally drop off after 200m and a challenging finish up the Kyber Pass (like the race series 5 mile in July).

Unfortunately, due to the road works that forced the rerouting of the race series (yes, those road works that never were ), this race has been reduced to 5k and has a new route.

I got very confused by this - saw a poster for it on a bus the other day saying it as 5km then my bus home had a poster saying it was 5 miles.

    Edit: Tough route that though.

It looks like Up the Kyber and then round the path at the back of the Football Pitches. A net up hill course as You are starting at the bottom of Acres Rd By the hospital and finishing at the top of the hill (the one we all know from the 10 miler and race series HM).

Yeah a right b*tch of a route, enjoyable race last year though. The Meno/Ching battle up the Kyber was one for the ages (any excuse to bring it up again) :p

The race clashes with the BHAA XC race in Castleknock, I'll be running the BHAA race...

Shame that its not the other way around course wise. It would make it faster if the wind stays away.

You won't be dropping down the race series hill so, once you get up the Kyber it's quite flat.

Enjoyable race, though, as mentioned earlier, a tough course.

I turned up just minutes before the start, ran to baggage tent and then to start line. I entered the start area and made my way toward the front. A few seconds later the race started. I easily got through a number of people before the first bend.

Some guy in a red top flew by me as we climbed the Kyber. Impressive.
I was happy with my 19m40s 21st place as I'd been down with a stomach bug all week (and it was still nagging my on Saturday morning).

    Results are online now.
