Was in a Daybreak shop attached to a garage earlier on, and they have a sign up behind the counter saying:

"Persons under 18 years of age are permitted from playing National Lottery."

Is it just me, or does that make no sense at all? I did ask the assistant about it, but he said that because it says 'from' it does make sense:confused:

It seems perfectly cromulent to me.

looks like they're missing a 'not'.

Persons are permitted from the age of 18 only to play the national lottery
    - is about as close as you'll get to that sign making any sense. As it stands, no, it's gibberish. Permitted means to authorise or give consent.

Probably couldn't spell precluded. Although spelling it right would just have confused the average punter. Why not just put up a sign saying "No Lotto for under-18s"?

The employee that wrote that sign better quit Daybreak and sign up for Tesco's internship. Looks like they need quality retail training.

They seem to have confused 'permitted' with 'prohibited'. Their sign makes precicely zero sense.

you can add people who say "revert back to you" on emails to gibberish like that.

The 'may contain nuts' sign on the packet of peanuts, is nuttier than squirrel poo.
