Just been for the last 2 days.
Must say what an event. Like a wide eyed child wondering around I was.
Birr will never again get my 15 quid! I'd rather save up my muula pay for ferry & drive over. Top class event.
Will post few pics there next Weekend.

Got some great gear @ good prices. Loads of guns & proper gear. Proper 'game' fair. Plenty of tweed on show :D

Admission 17 per adult. Ferry 400 return. Pricey on ferry but spending a few days away so not too bad.
Will do CLA next year. Weather & venue were fantastic.

    Hey EP,

great to hear that you enjoyed midland gamefair-this year was the first in the last 7 yrs that I didnt go.Great show for gear.I normally wait till midland to buy my stuff.-Bought 48 duck decoys(24 mallard,6 pintail,6 B+Ws,12 teal) for 160 euro last year.Plenty of bargins and anything that you need is there.

I always found that I've come back after the midland more rev'ed up for the shooting season ahead.

CLA is great show too but gear is a bit dearer.(midland is the last big gamefair and the stands really try and sell off their stock.)
    http://www.gamefair.co.uk/visitor-info/travel-advice/car.html
CLA is twice the size and three days(you need 2 minimum to see it all).
Better gundog events at CLA and some great dog demos by all the top lab+spaniel trainers.

Book accommodation now to get some place within ten miles of the show.Or book the campsite on the show ground.Did the camping but would rather the hotel(with some grub,a few pints and a decent bed)

I normally do the two fairs.CLA as a mini holiday with the other half and midland as a shopping trip with my two shooting mates.

If you are going to the CLA this year(its in Belvoir Castle) heres the link.If you travel from overseas you can access the CLA members enclosure(a kind of VIP area with nice food and bar area and Fancy Toilets).

Not sure if you are interested in farming but I try and tie the CLA in with the Royal Welsh Agricultural Show in Builth Wells in Wales.(the monday-Wednesday before the CLA.)Seriously big show(biggest agri show in europe)and well worth a day(wed)if you are interested in cows, sheep, stallions, poultry, pigs, sheepdog trials,4x4s,Machinery,Food,forestry.Makes the ploughing champs look small.

I normally do wed at RWS and fri+sat at the CLA.

    Hope this is helpful,

    HD.

Sound man HD. I'll do my research before hand alright. A trader at the fair mentioned that about early booking alright. I stayed in Cannock this time round with the missus. Very handy in fairness.
If was with a few lads etc camping might be an option :p

I'd definitely be interested in a trip to the Midlands Game Fair next year and I know at least two other lads who would too. I've been to the CLA before and a lot of it wasn't for me. I'd only be interested in 2 nights away, Friday and Saturday night. If the plan was to clear off on Sunday evening and leg it back for the ferry, I'd be well into it.

im too gutted i didnt get to go this year,if any of you who are going as long as i have, missing trip was like been left home alone.
for a car or jeep with 4 adults on the ferry and pairing up in a 3 star hotel(3 nights b&b) was working out total at 220 euro per man,
and then theres yur spending money,if you havnt been before whatever you plan to bring DOUBLE IT because you will spend it

My father in law went with jj Kavanagh. Said it was top notch coach boat hotel tickets 2 evening meals €300.

He met lads over there that paid €350 without tickets and no evening meals.

He brought back a beauty of a deerhunteer jacket £75, I've borrowed it already. Long term. :-)

I'm sure if some one mailed jj Kavanagh they'd do something for boards people.
